Chapter 23: Heat

*Sakura's POV*

I pretended that I didn't hear Castiel and Dean's conversation and I won't mention their conversation to Raven or anyone else. I might tease Dean about it though. I walked in between the Hunter and Warrior so the pups are fully protected. Raven is guarding the front of the line, while in her werewolf form, and Hotaru is in the back. Jack is walking in front of me with the rest of his pups on his back. I walk the pace of the line which is kinda slow, probably because I'm about two or three times their size. I get tired after several miles so it's probably fair.

*Raven's POV*

I walk in a mild pace so the Pack doesn't tire out so quickly. I know some people are going to be irritated, especially since it's a blistering hot day today. Some of the wolves, including me, aren't used to walking long distances for what could be days. My mouth soon started to dry out because of the intense heat that is happening today. Before we had to stop for the day, we had to actually make progress on making distance.

I can hear some light painting coming from one of the Hunter's that is walking behind me. The heat on this day is making this trip much worse. I now start worrying about my pups and wondering if they can survive this trip. I take in a deep sniff to see if I can find a lake or river near by, I also listen deeply for the sound of rushing water. I can hear and smell a river that is about a few miles away. I turn the Pack line towards that direction and walk a little more briskly.

I hear a few groans when they realize that they have to walk faster. I walk a little slower just in case the Pack was in a fighting mood now. The flat ground curved down slightly and revealed rushing water at the bottom of it. I go into a trot so the Pack can get nice cool water sooner. I didn't hear any groans coming from behind me so I take that as a good sign. I slowed to a stop near the water's edge and motioned for the Pack to take a drink.

I bent my head down and got big gulps of the cool rushing water. After a couple of sips, I lifted my head up and looked for Sakura. I walked over to her when I found her and picked my pups and Castiel and lowered them to the ground. I lead them over to a gentler part of the river so they don't get drifted them away. I see Dean curiously dip his paw into the water. He slowly walked in and smiled. He ran back out and pushed Castiel and Sam into the water. I hear yelps as they splashed into the water.

*Dean's POV*

After I pushed Cass and Sammy into the water, I jumped in after them. I saw Castiel pokes his head out of the water as I splashed in. I brought my head out of the water and see Cass shaking his head, I'm guessing I splashed. I laughed quietly and see Cass open one of his eyes.

"Dean!" Both of his eyes are open at this point.

"What?" I asked, still smiling.

Castiel stammered now trying to figure out what to say. He gave up and smiled diviously. He jumped onto me and pushed me into the water. My eyes closed in the water and I pushed him off. I pulled my head out of the water and started coughing, I accidently swallowed some water while I was pushed. Castiel's expression softened.

"Dean, are you ok?" He continued, "I'm sorry." Cass' ears flattened against his head and made himself look smaller.

I said through coughs, "I'm... fine Cass. I deserved it."

Once I caught my breath, I started looking around for Sam. I see him walking through the water quietly, seemingly following a smallish fish. Sam stopped when he saw the fish slow down and grabbed it with his teeth. He lifted his head up proudly and trotted over to mom. He sat down in front of her and set the fish of the ground. He looked up at her smiling, tail wagging behind him. Mom smiled proudly and nudged the fish towards Sammy.

"Kids, come eat." My litter and Castiel walked over to the food, I stayed behind because I wanted to catch a fish too. I stood calmly and looked around to see if I could find a fish bigger than Sam's. I'm trying to find something for mom to eat. After I get something for her to eat, I get another fish for the litter.

I see a medium sized fish. I walked calmly towards it, making sure that I don't make a bunch of ripples in the water. I stopped behind it and got ready to jump on it. Before it got too far away, I jumped onto it. I struggled in the water, trying to kill it. Once that I could tell that it was dead, I trotted over to mom, struggling on trying to walk in a straight line because of the weight of the fish.

I set it down in front of mom and I stared at her, beaming. She smiled it and nudged it towards me. I shook my head and pushed it back to her, still smiling. She tilted her head in confusion but realized what I was doing.

"Thank you, Dean." She smiled at me with pride, then bent her head down to eat. I bowed my head, then went to Sam.

"Hey Sam, do you want to catch some more fish with me?" Sam looked up at me, beaming, then nodded. Sam stood up and walked over to the river with me. I looked back and saw Cass was looking up now. I smiled at him, then looked back at the river again. I waded through the water calmly again, then stood still in a good spot, so I could see the fish clearly. Sam was standing a fair distance away from me.

*Castiel's POV*

I watched as Sam and Dean were splashing around in the water, trying to catch a fish each. I smiled but stopped when I noticed my wings shifting. I walked over to Dean's mom.

"Hey, Alpha. Can I show you something?" I asked with a little nervousness. I knew she was a werewolf, especially now since she is in her form.

"Yes Castiel, what is it?" She had a bit of worry in her voice.

"Can I show you somewhere more private?" I didn't want anyone to be seeing what I can do and want to throw me out of the Pack. She nodded and led me over a secluded area where it is mostly covered in bushes and shrubs. I looked through the open areas to see if anyone was hiding.

I let out a deep breath. I focused most of my energy on my eyes to make them glow brighter and the rest of my energy of my wings to spread. I look up at her and saw as the shadows slowly got brighter, except for the shadows of my wings. Alpha was holding her breath in awe and in her wide eyes, I see my glowing ones.

"Hey Castiel, can I ask you something?" My heart dropped, this is when I have to leave Dean. "Cass, don't look so worried. If I kicked you out of the Pack then I would be a hypocrite. I wanted to ask you protect Dean and Sam. With powers like that, I don't expect that to be the least of your abilities. So then when I'm not around, I want you to be there for them because I can see them doing special things in the future." I nodded and turned back to the direction of the river, making sure that I have hidden my wings and my eyes weren't glowing.

I look into the river and saw that Sam was looking around worried and Dean was missing. "Dean!" Cried out Sam. I feel my tense up, getting ready to be needed to fly and look for Dean. I yelp in surprise as a mass heavier than me tackled my back. I turn around and see Dean laughing, I look over to Sam and see that he was laughing too. This was a set up.

I pushed Dean off me, "Why did you do that, do you know how worried I was that something happened?!" My whole body was tense, if something had happened to Dean then I would have felt like I had failed Alpha. I see regret in Dean's eyes.

"Sorry Cass, I just wanted to scare you." Dean's ears were pressed against his head and his head lowered a bit.

"It's fine Dean, just don't do that ever again." I see Dean's mom walked out of the bushes and towards a little perch rock to talk to the Pack.

"I know that this was a nice resting time but it is time to start moving again." I hear groans coming from some of the wolves in the Pack and they all grabbed their share of bedding. I look towards Sam as he picked up a fish and handed it to Sakura. She bowed her head, ate it in a few bites, and crouched down so we could get on. I got on with the help of Dean and then pulled him up. This time, I was in the front, next of me was Dean. Next to him was Sam, next to Sam was Gomi~Baku, next to her was Charlie and Nadare decided to walk with my litter mates.
