The next morning found Gideon and Pacifica playing a video game in the living room. Ford was sitting at the nearby table, working on Mystery Shack paperwork.

"What did that Mystery Twin want with you?" Pacifica asked, her eyes on the TV screen.

"She said she was going to show me how everything works in their shows." Gideon focused on beating Pacifica in the game. "It's not like a date."

He gave a groan once Pacifica won the game not a minute later. "Yes!" Pacifica cheered, fist-bumping the air.

"How and why are you so good?" Gideon grumbled.

"What do you think I did all last summer?" Pacifica laughed. "I beat Melody, Robbie, and even one of Robbie's friends. And she's good at videogames."

While the two started another game, Ford wrote something down, and then stopped as he replayed the cousins' conversation in his head.

"Gideon, did you say something about the Mystery Twins?" Ford called, turning to look at the cousins.

Only the sounds of the video game were heard for a moment. Then, as Pacifica won again, Gideon called back, "She invited me to see how her shows worked. Mabel, I mean."

It wasn't long before Ford was standing in front of the TV, staring at Gideon impatiently.

"I agreed to take you on one show and one show only." He sounded mad as he glared at the boy. "And what now, you're going on a date with one of them?"

"Wha - no!" Gideon protested. "I'm just hanging out with her, it's not anything romantic."

"Well, if you ever did go on a date with her - your aunt and uncle would not be happy. And neither would I," Ford warned.

Pacifica rolled her eyes. "He makes a new friend and you tell him to not hang out with her?"

Ford shook his head. "Just - trust no one in Gravity Falls. You can never be too careful around here." He went back to his table, sitting down and looking at the paperwork.

Gideon narrowed his eyes. He would go to Mabel's house and he would see the logic behind the Mystery Twins' show.

"Mabel, you did what?!"

Dipper stared at his sister with unbelieving eyes. His palms hit the dining room table with a slam.

"I invited someone to our house." Mabel raised an eyebrow. "Is that so bad?"

"We use our magic here! All the time! And you invited your crush of the week to our house." Dipper let out a frustrated sigh. "Am I the only one who rationally thinks in this household?"

"Probably," Stan called from another room.

Dipper scowled as Mabel sniggered. "Reassuring," he muttered.

"Just pretend our tricks are fake," Mabel suggested. "Weren't you going to do a card trick for our next show? Practice that."

"That involves MAGIC."

"So come up with a way to make it logical." She studied her fingers. "It can't be that hard."

Dipper groaned. "Fine," he said. "Fine! Don't blame me if he sees us using our amulets."

"I should hope not," Mabel shot, "when we won't be using them!"

Dipper growled and clutched his amulet. Almost instantly, blue light covered Mabel, making her float a few feet above the ground.
