i wish i had forgotten the rules.
there we were, last night, with nothing around us but concrete floors and blank white walls. we stood there, desperate for something more than a simple touch. so i reached out. you took it. you took my hand in yours and guided me towards the stairs until you stopped at the bottom and turned around. i reached out again. you took it again. you held me in your arms like it could be the last time. we stood there safely wrapped up in each other's warmth for what could've been forever, your heartbeat loud in my ear and your chin resting on top of my head. it felt perfect. i felt like i was home.

but even though it was wrong,
it all felt so much more than right.
