"Here in the garden,

Let's play a game.

I'll show you how it's done.

Here in the garden, stand very still,

This'll be so much fun,

And then she smiled, that's what I'm after

A smile in her eyes, the sound of her laughter..."

You let a small, shocked gasp escape from your lips, putting the pieces of her story together.

"Happy to listen,

Happy to play,

Happily watching her drift away.

Happily waiting, all on my own,

Under the endless sky.

Counting the seconds,

Standing alone,

As thousands of years go by.

Happily wondering, night after night,

'Is this how it works? Am I doing it right?'

Happy to listen, happy to stay,

Happily watching her drift away."

She wandered aimlessly to a bush of dead flowers, picking one softly and staring at it with empty eyes.

"You keep on turning pages for people who don't care,

People who don't care about you..."

Her eyes narrowed slightly at the flower, eyebrows furrowing in an unreadable expression. She turns to you and tucks it behind your ear, meeting your gaze as her cheeks flush a light magenta.

"And still, it takes you ages,

To see that no one's there,

See that no one's there,

See that no one's there...

Everyone's gone on without you."

She paused for a bit, biting her bottom lip in contemplation.

"Finally something,

Finally news,

About how the story ends.

She doesn't exist now, survived by her son,

And all of her brand new friends.

...Isn't that lovely?

It's that cool,

And isn't that CRUEL,

And aren't I a fool to have...

Happily listened,

Happy to stay.

Happily watching her drift...

Drift...

Drift...

Away."

She wrapped her arms around herself defensively, as you watched her revert to her original form. Dark, bold tear marks streaked down her cheeks. Her hair spiked in long pigtails as her gem turned upside-down. She turned towards you, meeting your tense eyes. Her face was twisted with pain and sadness, receiving a pitiful sigh from you.

"You got your memories back..."

She released her arms, letting them fall to her sides as she clenched her fists.

"I can't say I'm surprised. She hurt a lot of people. Trust me, you're not the only one she-"

She cut you off, holding down your wrists and shouted an aggressive, livid tone.

"You must know all about her life without me! Rub it in, why don't ya?"

"It's not like that! You deserve a better friend," You stammered, throwing your arms up to block her swing. She seemed conflicted, ready to throw a punch at you before hastily directing it the other way to break the Diamond communicator, leaving small pieces of rubble in its wake. She fell into a puddle on the floor, as you wanted so desperately to throw your arms around her waist and tell her everything was going to be okay... but you couldn't. Seeing her current state, you decided against a lot of physical contact, instead placing your hand on top of hers, squeezing it gently.

"Spinel, I've been there. I know it hurts... I know the pain of feeling broken... abandoned... used..." You let out a quiet, dry chuckle, hoping to cheer her up. "I know it feels terrible right now, like a dark spiral you can't escape. But... things will get better. If you let them."
