It had been a week since the night at the bowling alley. A week since I really got to see and speak with Caleb. And ever since, I couldn't get him out of my head.

He was the most gorgeous human I had ever met.

The past week had been driving me nuts. I had seen Caleb in the halls, at a distance around campus, even once when he passed me going into the bathroom. But he ignored me. Acted like nothing has ever happened between us.

We both knew that wasn't true.

All my life I thought I was only attracted to women. Sure, I could admit here and there that a guy was good-looking. But nothing more. None of them sparked something in me like Caleb did the first night I saw him. And then once I finally had a conversation with the boy, I knew I was a goner.

He wasn't just sweet, getting embarrassed about the littlest things where his cheeks flamed a bright red. He was also intelligent, passionate about art and cared for his friends dearly. And I only figured that much out by observation.

"Ezra?"

I reeled back as far as my desk chair would let me as I stared up at him. And of course it was Caleb. Of bloody course. Because the universe must love me so much, it delivers on my thoughts.

"Sorry," Caleb said, taking a step back, hands fisted in his backpack straps. "You didn't answer the first time. Or the second. Or third, so . . ."

I raised a hand to wave off his apology. "Don't worry about it."

Caleb cocked his head, a few curls falling across his forehead. "Must have been thinking about something important."

I shrugged before standing, letting the chair roll backwards a bit. Caleb took another step back, fingers turning white. I decided to stay still from now on. "So what can I do for you, Caleb?"

He straightened at the question, like he had completely forgotten why he was there in my classroom. "Oh, um, yeah. I-I was wondering, or rather, um, need some help, you know––" He gestured to me and then room around us.

I let out a breath of laughter which only made Caleb blush further. "You need help with chemistry?"

Caleb gave a small nod.

I moved to sit back in my desk chair and Caleb shifted from one foot to the other as he watched me. But the longer his eyes locked on mine, the stronger his blush became and the more I smiled in fascination at him. He was incredibly adorable the more I watched him, the more he became a shy little boy.

Jesus fucking christ what is my problem.

Caleb was not a little boy. He was a young man. He was a college student, deciding what to do with his life afterwards. A young artist wanting to make a name for himself in this world. How do any of those things classify Caleb as a little boy.

And yet . . . every time I think that, all I can imagine is Caleb, on his knees, eyed hooded as he stares up at me, my –––

"Dr. Sato?"

Both Caleb and I jumped from out spots. It was only then that I realized Caleb had moved closer, his knees almost touching mine. Now he was several feet away and red with shame, looking like he'd been caught doing something extremely less innocent than talking with his professor.

We both turned towards the door to see Tyler Cole standing in the doorway. A mixed look of confusion, anger and something else along those two lines were written all across his face. The air became even thicker with tension, but the heavier, uncomfortable kind. I was always down for some light choking, but this was becoming too much in the span of three seconds.
