Third person POV

Mei spun around and furrowed her brows,
"General?" She couldn't say his real name because she somehow wasn't able to recall it. It was strange, normally she was very good with names.

Marin took notice, but didn't let it show. The palace was now a war zone, though against who, he wasn't sure. Loud gunshots rang throughout the whole castle now, and voices could be heard yelling.

"Princess." He bowed, he wouldn't be able to try and talk to her now, "There is an attack, you must get to the safe zone." Mei narrowed her eyes, she knew that, he needn't remind her. Her eyes were no longer a blue bell blue, now they were a flaming red, magic swirled in her hand.
"You do not need to tell me, General. I am aware. Protocol states you must go and lead your troops to protect the palace and our kingdom. I am capable."

Marin smiled sadly, she was certainly no longer the little innocent sister he used to know, who was always asking him for help and running around without a care in the world. Mei thrust out her hand and knocked an enemy soldier back into the wall, effectively knocking him out.
She's changed so much.
He thought sadly.

"I know, your highness. I was nearby and merely wished to check on you." Mei raised her brow,
"Well, consider myself checked on. Go, get back to your post and defend our kingdom!" She ordered, pointing to the crowd. It had not yet reached the kitchen they were standing in, and it almost seemed like a different place, or time.

Marin bowed again and turned to leave,
"And General." His sister called out, he turned to look at her, "Stay safe." Mei wasn't quite sure why she felt such a strong connection to him, when they had barely interacted ever. Of course, she cared deeply about all her people, but he was different somehow.

He smiled,
"I wish the same to you." He said, and then disappeared into the fight. Mei stared at the place where he once stood for a moment, before shaking her head and calling for Tikki.
"Ready?"
"I always am!"

The princess nodded and smiled,
"Tikki, spots on!" She shouted, getting engulfed in a bright pink light she'd grown to love.

When the light faded she was left in a red and black spotted dress that was shorter in the front than the back and had long sleeves that went into gloves. Her long hair was pulled into a bun on her head, her bangs hanging over her eyes. She had black shorts under the dress with a magic yo-yo tied at her waist. Her bare feet were now covered with black boots that went up to the bottom of her knees, right where her dress ended. Around her eyes sat a red and black mask that was attached to her skin.

Now, Mei had turned into her alter-ego, Ladybug, protector of Princess Mei and the royal family. She closed her eyes and tilted her head slightly, straining her ears and searching. The heroine was trying to find the best pathway to get from her current location to the rendezvous point in the garden.

She would teleport, but she was only just learning how and didn't feel comfortable going too long of a distance. Using the sounds around her, Mei was able to create a map of what exactly was going on, and she ran out of her safe kitchen.

She hit the enemy soldiers away with her yo-yo as she sprinted as fast as she could to an open window on the other side of the hall. It was very crowded by now, and it was definitely challenging getting through.

Ladybug reached the window and put her hands on the ledge, before spinning around and discovering Li, or, Paon Bleu, her right hand man, best friend, and royal attendant, pinned against the wall.
