Marinette's POV

I tightened the pigtails on either side of my head and opened my purse. Tikki smiled at me and flew inside, and I rushed down the stairs. I had random inspiration strike my this morning, and I found I actually lived this hairstyle!

Yes it may seem a bit childish or whatever you want to call it, but I loved the way they looked, especially with my short hair.

I smiled and took a deep breath as the scent of fresh baked baked goods filled my nose. There were a few customers in our bakery this morning, and I grabbed a croissant from a plate at a table where Felix was sitting.

"Morning!" I said cheerily to everyone.
"Good morning, dear. We opened early today, as you can see." My mom told me, sending a customer on their way.

"Felix?" My friend was chewing on his bagel with his head hung and eyes low. "What's going on?" He shrugged and sighed. I sat down and tried to look at his face, but he abruptly stood up and walked to the door.
"I'll be outside." He announced, the bell ringing as he left.

I blinked a few times and glanced at my parents who looked as confused as I did. I pursed my lips and stood up, swallowing some of my croissant.
"Well, I'd better go. See you guys later!" I waved at them and jogged out into the city.

I tapped Felix on the shoulder. He didn't look up from his position on the bench we had placed outside our shop. I furrowed my brows and sat beside him.

"...Did Allure tell you?" I asked, trying to make some sort of conversation.
"Yes. I want you to know I'm really sorry about letting my pin get taken." I opened my mouth to speak, but closed it again.

Instantly I knew why he was upset, he wanted to be able to help me in the fights.
"I know." I glanced over at him and grinned, "Not everyone can be as great as me so soon. Patience, young grasshopper." I could see the corners of his mouth twitch, and he looked away.

I laughed and sighed, leaning back and watching the pedestrians bustle about.
"Look, I know you want to help me, but I'll be ok. I'll have someone else to help me out, so I won't be alone. Obviously, we won't be as good as a team as you and me, but... I'll help you train more, ok? And, you can still help in case of an emergency."

Felix sighed and leaned back against the bench, crossing his arms,
"Ok." I stood up and stuck out my hand,
"Let's go." He opened his eyes and groaned, taking my hand and letting my pull him up.

Together, we walked towards the school.
"Yeah, you'll definitely need me. I bet that newbie'll be a wreck anyway. There's no team as good as us." I grinned and knocked my shoulder into him,
"Duh."

Just after lunch it was time for the rest of the class to take their tests. Felix and I sat in the back across from each other beside the large windows. They were wide open, and a cool breeze ruffled my hair. We worked quietly in our placement tests, and as we had suspected, it wasn't too hard.

We all worked peacefully, diligently, and silently when the rare tranquility was sliced through by an ear splitting scream. I winced at the sound and Felix and I silently agreed it was most likely an akuma.

Hopefully my partner shows. A girl was flying around Paris, shooting orbs of darkness at panicking civilians. If one made contact, the victim would sprout wings, and join her growing army.

I jumped up and stood on my chair,
"Everyone, get out of here! Get somewhere safe!" My classmates looked at me in bewilderment, but I didn't need to tell them twice. They all leapt out of their chairs and stampeded about the classroom, following our teacher.

Felix hesitated at the door, but eventually, gave me a nod, and followed after the class. Once they were gone, I sprinted and threw myself out the window. We were o lay on the second floor, so I landed and rolled on the pavement with ease.

The alleyway was deserted and I dusted myself off. Tikki flew out in front of my and nodded.
"Tikki, spots on!" I shouted. After a second, a warm pink light engulfed me, and was gone as quickly as it came. I looked down at my outfit and gasped.

It was not what I was used to. Instead of my dress, I was wearing a spandex, skin tight suit with black ladybug spots. My hair was still in pigtails, and my mask was the same as it always was judging by how it felt.

I shook my head and grabbed my yoyo, flinging it so it wrapped around a light post and pulled me along. Eventually, I caught up with the villain, but stayed far enough away that she could see me.

I examined her closely and watched a little longer as she and her army gathered more soldiers. I grit my teeth and grappled myself onto the top of the Eiffel Tower.

I stared breathlessly out at the spectacular view, before shaking my head and bringing myself back to the task at hand. I grabbed my yoyo and slid it open, selecting the green paw print icon. Hopefully he was already transformed, or else this call wouldn't connect.

It rang a few times before a blonde boy picked it up.

"Hello?"
"Hey! You must be the owner of the Cat miraculous. Have you got a name yet?" The camera was shaky, like he was running, but from what I could tell he had a black mask over his eyes, similar to mine. He also seemed to have a pair of cat ears on his head that were swiveling around like a bunny's.

"O-Oh! Umm, Chat...Oh! Call me Chat Noir."
"Ok then, Chat Noir."
"You must be Ladybug, right?" He asked me excitedly.

I grinned,
"That's me. Meet me at the top of the Eiffel Tower. Have you figured out your staff?" He nodded hesitantly in confirmation. I had studied the Cat miraculous thoroughly, and I had an idea how to use his powers.
"Ok, see you soon." I said, hanging up.

I looked back out over the city and spotted a little speck of back jumping from building to building. I squinted and realized who it was. The cat boy was using his staff to leap, not so gracefully, from building to building, but I have him credit for trying. For a first timer, he was pretty good.

His suit seemed to be skin tight like mine, but it was black and seemed to have a tail swaying behind him as he jumped around. A little golden bell at the base of his neck caught the light and I snickered a bit.

As he grew closer and closer I finally decided to help him out. I threw my yoyo at him and it landed at his feet, making his skid to a stop. I mined picking it up and holding it and his mouth formed an O shape before he grabbed it.

He nodded and I yanked my yoyo back towards me. Chat Noir's eyes went wide as saucers as he flew threw the air at me. I smiled, remembering the first time I ever soared through the air, carried my my trusty yoyo.

I flicked my yoyo up so his stiff body flew to the sky. I called it back down and caught it in my hand. The cat superhero did a little flip in the air before tumbling back down, and landing on his feet in front of me.

"I guess it's true what they say? Cats do always land on their feet." I tried to keep myself from smirking at him. Now, as a princess I'm not supposed to take any joy from other people's suffering, but in my defense, I knew he wasn't going to get hurt, and that was pretty funny.

He straightened up and his green cat eyes grew wide again as he caught sight of me.
"Well, of course," He took my hand and bent down as his waist, kissing my knuckles, "My Lady."
