Marinette's POV

I blinked a few times and stood up, smoothing down my dress as I broke out of the strange trance. The blonde boy standing before me was absolutely gorgeous, and I forgot about Dion for a moment, a small moment.

"Hello! How can I help you?" I asked them politely in perfect French. I had learned and became fluent in it at age 10. The boy still stared at me, unmoving, with wide eyes, so the girl spoke up.
"Hey! We just wanted to try this place out, 'cause it's new." She glanced around, before looking back at me, "I haven't seen you around here before. You new?"

"Oh, yes. We just arrived a few days ago." I cringed as soon as the word "arrived" left my mouth. Casual! "I'm Marinette, by the way."
"Cool! I'm Alya. Any suggestions?" I looked over at the display case and tapped my chin,
"The cupcakes are sp- super good! Really good." I laughed awkwardly and chided myself. Alya nodded and didn't seem to notice,
"Hmm, I'll take a vanilla cupcake then. Nino?"

"Um, I'll have a chocolate one?" I nodded and turned to walk away, waiting for the blonde boy to place his order.
"Oh! Sorry, um, I'm Adrien. I'll take a...chocolate croissant please." He finally said after Alya elbowed his side. I nodded and picked up all the treats and set them on some plates.
"Would you like something to drink?"
"Just water, please." Alya walked over to the counter to pay, but her boyfriend stepped in front of her.

"Ah ah ah, I'm paying." Nino interrupted, and Alya didn't complain. He gave my father the money and grabbed his and Adrien's plate, Alya grabbed her's, and they went to sit with Adrien, who got a table for them, right next to ours.

"So, who sent that photo?" I asked Felix as I sat down again, resuming our conversation.
"Lucas. He was asking what happened to me and then he sent me that." He said, shaking his head and smiling at his phone.
"Of course." I giggled and rolled my eyes, sipping my water. I casually lifted my purse so it was standing up right, and clipped it closed, just in case.

"But, really? 'The cupcakes are sp- sp-, s-super good. Really good.' Ha! Splendid? Not exactly casual." Felix mocked me, laughing at my poor choice of words. I rolled my eye and flicked his forehead, sticking my tongue out at him.

"So, Marinette, you've only been here a few days?" Alya asked me, sparking a conversation. I looked over at her, surprised for a second, then I smiled. I wasn't used to being spoken to so informally, like a normal person. It was always formal. It was a good different though.

"Yeah." I looked at the three of them, and they seemed to be about our age.
"Where are you from?"
"China."
"Oh, I've heard it's awesome there. You left because of...what happened right?" I grit my teeth and inhaled slowly, I blinked a few times to clear my tears. Felix cleared his throat and subtly shook his head.

"Actually, we were already leaving." I supplied, and Alya nodded. Now that I was looking at them a little closer, the blonde boy looked familiar. "Hey, do I know you from somewhere?" I asked him while tapping my chin. Then it came to me, his father helped design my balloons for the annual ball a week before my birthday. He didn't stay the whole time last year, though.

"Yeah," Adrien laughed, "I get that a lot."
Oh no. What am I supposed to say? He cannot know I was at the palace.
"It's cool you know me all the way in China too. I didn't think you would." He said, though he had a puzzled look on his face. I looked at Felix for help, but he averted his gaze innocently. I scowled at him as my eyes darted around.

The finally found my story outside the window, I snapped my fingers,
"I know where I saw you! That billboard over there, that's you isn't it?" I exclaimed, pointing outside.
"That's him, alright. It is hard to miss all those giant poster boards and billboards with Adrien's face plastered on them." Nino rolled his eyes as Adrien laughed sheepishly.
"Haha, yeah, I suppose."

I looked back over at Felix, who was actually making eye contact this time, and his look very clearly said -

You know, I really thought I'd have to save you back there.

I rolled my eyes at him and smirked.

I had it covered. Have more faith in me.

He chuckled and shook his head, and I knew he understood what I was trying to say. We knew each other so well we could communicate without speaking, and it was always accurate.

We'll see.

Felix turned back to face the three teens, casually dropping a marshmallow into my bag.

"Oh, what school are you guys going to? You're like 16 right?" I nodded,
"We're going to attend College Francoise DuPont. And, where are my manners." I gestured to Felix, who smiled, "This is my best friend, Felix. His parents are overseas so he's staying with us here. Just a warning," I converted my mouth with the back of my hand and whispered loudly, "He's crazy."

We all started laughing, even Felix after he sent me a half-hearted glare.
"Well, good to meet you, dude." Nino laughed.
"Yeah, and also, were going to the same school, actually! Maybe we'll have some classes together." Alya told me, wiping her hands and crumpling her napkin.

"Awesome!"
"That was really good!" She exclaimed, standing up, "Thanks, Marinette. Thank you, Mr. Dubois!" My father smiled kindly at her before joining my mother in the kitchen. I smiled happily at the thought of already having made three friends.
"We've actually got to get going. Dinner reservation." The brunette explained, walking over to the door with the boys, "We'll see you hopefully tomorrow!"

Felix and I waved,
"See ya!" After they were gone, Felix snorted. "What?"
"S-Sorry. It's just, I'm so impressed. That was real smooth, Marinette. Real smooth." I scoffed and smacked his arm.
"I didn't slip up! And it's not like you even talked." I rolled my eyes and I clipped my bag, tipping it over to reveal two giggling kwamis. "Ugh, not you two too!"

I shook my head and put my elbow back on the table, accidentally knocking my glass off. I yelled and leaned out of my chair, activating my powers and catching it in my hand, water spilling all over me. I hadn't used my power too much, so my eyes only turned a purple color.

I laughed awkwardly and clicked my tongue, standing cautiously and placing the glass on the table. I half-grinned at Felix and walked over to the bathroom to dry off my hand, shaking my head, why was I so clumsy?

It was going to be so strange when I am supposed to be acting all clumsy and like a normal schoolgirl. I looked at myself in the mirror, gods, my hair was so short. I shook my head and splashed my face with cold water, I would need to focus on not using my powers like that at school.

But, it would be a very hard habit to break. I sighed and walked back out over to Felix, sitting in my seat again. We sat there together for the rest of the day, chatting and going over possible scenarios and what our responses should be.

Adrien's POV

I stared up at the ceiling of my giant bedroom. I couldn't fall asleep for the life of me, and my head was filled with a certain blue haired girl.
Argh! What wrong with you? You have a girlfriend Adrien! Besides, it looks like she and Felix could be a thing.
I flipped into my chest and buried my face into my pillow.
Control yourself! You have Chloe.
Marinette and her beautiful blue eyes- STOP! Marinette, just Marinette, is only a friend.

At least that's what I tried to tell myself.

Yay!! I have not abandoned this story!!
