Marinette's POV

"Bye, moth- er, Maman! Bye, Papa! Wo ai ni!(I love you)" I shouted to my parents as Felix and I left for school.
"Bye, you two! Wo ai ni!" They called back as the door shut. My skirt brushed by my legs as I walked, I had changed my wardrobe as I was told.

I was currently wearing a black, cold shoulder t-shirt with a floral printed skirt. My hair was down with a strand from either side of my head pulled back and tied together with a ribbon.

Felix wore a black sweatshirt tied around his waist, and a blue Jagged Stone shirt, our favorite French singer. His brooch was pinned at his waist on his sweatshirt, it was small, with five feathers fanning out of it.

I nervously gripped the straps of my bag. Endless thoughts swirled through my brain.
What if nobody likes me?
What if they're mean?
What's going on back at home?!
Apparently my inner turmoil was very apparent.

Felix stopped me before we went up into the building, putting his hands on my shoulders.
"Are you ok?" He asked me, concern evident in his eyes. I knew if I tried to lie to him it would go straight through.

"I'm just nervous." I admitted. "What if they don't like me? All anyone's ever known is this princess, outgoing, graceful side of me. What if they don't like this version? Also, I can't stop thinking about what must be going on back at home."

It almost felt like I'd built a dam throughout my life, and now that I was knocking it down, everything was flooding out too fast. My anxiety I hadn't learned to deal with was insane.

Felix pressed his lips together and sighed,
"Mari, I need you to listen closely to what I'm about to say." I nodded, biting my lip. "You're amazing. And I can't understand why you don't think that. There isn't any fathomable reason, besides jealousy, for anyone not to like you. There will always be someone like that. Luckily for you, I'll be here to protect you, like I always am."

"Easy for you to say. When you go from some shy, introvert everyone adores, to an outspoken extrovert everyone will love even more, there aren't many things for you to worry about. You should've seen the girls checking you out on the way here." I countered, waving my arms around for affect.

He laughed,
"I noticed. You know, you had your fair share of stares. I scared them off though. Also, Marinette, we're both getting to be the real us, finally. If people don't like you, which they will, they won't get me either. Though, I feel like it will be the other way around. Like I said, I'll always be here for you, to save you." I looked at him before closing my eyes and smiling.

"Seems like I'm the one always saving you." He rolled his eyes with a chuckle and slung his arm over my shoulders,
"Come on."

"And, here is your classroom. I hope you enjoy your time here." Mr. Damocles finished. He'd just taken us for a tour around the school, and had just dropped us off at our class.
"Thank you." I said. He nodded and walked away back to his office.

I exhaled sharply,
"Ready?" I asked Felix.
"Of course." He put his hand on the door knob. I took a deep breath and bit my lip. Tikki poked her head out of my purse that had cushions in it especially for her,
"You guys will do great!" She smiled up at me.
"Thanks, Tikki." I smiled back at her.

I nodded at Felix and he opened the door, poking his head into the classroom.
"Hello! We're the new students." He said, talking to the teacher. I peeked in over his shoulder and spotted Nino and Adrien sitting at the first desk, Alya sitting behind her boyfriend. I waved at them and they waved happily back.
