*Clarissa Klins*
"Another Klins, though not by blood."
"Your not really family."
I shook my head. This was all so overwhelming. We were on our way to Kings Cross using muggle transportation. Father being too busy, sent a ministry car to pick us up. He had his reasons. None of us could apparate, he didn't trust us with the floo network and port keys were too risky. I hated muggle transportation. It was so slow.
The car parked in front of the train station and we silently gathered our trunks and headed to platforms nine and ten. We didn't exchange words because enough had be exchanged this morning. It was a yelling match between Xavier and I that Riley had tried to stifle. I was always blamed for it too. My gaze shot dangers into his back as he walked ahead of me.
At the platform Xavier rushed through the wall. Not a single word, not even a snide remark. That was an improvement honestly. Riley sighed. "Just run straight at the wall, don't hesitate and you'll be fine." Then she too was gone. I glanced around, how did muggles seriously miss this? Children vanishing into a brick wall. I shook my head to clear it and to rid it of nerves as best I could. This was easy. I ran at the wall.
A train whistled. Good to know it wasn't a solid wall. Not that I doubted it. The platform was bustling with students, parents and pets alike. A couple owls swooped over peoples heads and parents hugged their children, some trying to pull away. Draco Malfoy was wiggling out of his mother's grip, his cheeks reddening. I smiled, it had been a while since I saw him.
The train whistled again and I realized it was almost eleven. Dragging my trunk across the platform I handed it off to a house elf who was helping load and rushed to board.
There were absolutely no empty compartments. Most were full of older students laughing and joking. Was I ever going to find a seat?
I was giving up hope on finding anywhere to sit as the train began to move, then I found Draco Malfoy. He sat with two larger boys on either side. I opened the compartment door, "May I join you?" He nodded.
Once I sat down across from him he gave a small smile. "Clarissa Klins right?"
"Yes, thats me." I smiled, glad he remembered me. It was a few years ago, we were seven, when his father and mine had a business meeting at our house. Draco and his mum had come too, and Draco and I became fast friends. We hung out a few more times, but it was a known fact that our fathers never got along. I hadn't seen him in at least year.
"Crabbe, Goyle, go get us some snacks." He handed his brutes several galleons and they left. "Still like playing wizard chess?" He asked.
I laughed, "I haven't played it since. I didn't have you to continue teaching me." He chuckled. Those days we hung out he had tried and failed to teach me the game but none of it stuck.
We easily fell into conversation again, bringing back memories of good times. We'd hung out, what, five times max? Like I said, Draco was easy to be around, easy to talk to. I liked that about him.
"Still enjoy flying?" I prodded.
He smiled smugly. "Yep, I've been practicing all summer and I plan to try out for the Slytherin quidditch team this year."
"Slytherin? You already know which house?" I myself was unsure.
"All of the Malfoy's were Slytherins and pure bloods, I'm not gonna be the one to end our streak. What about you? Aren't the Klins' Gryffindor?"
"I don't know. It's a bit complicated." I muttered. He didn't know much about me, we knew each other on the surface but nothing deep.
"I'm sure I'll understand." He gave me a reassuring smile.
