Being back in the hospital wing brought back memories from the incident that I didn't want to think about.

Seeing Clarissa after our duel, I somewhat regretted it. I still thought she was lying and just needed something she could claim to be hers. She shut me out otherwise I would've asked what her family was like.

Madam Pomfrey woke us to let us know we could leave. Our head of house would have our wands which we could get before class. I knew later tonight would be the start of a week worth of detention.

Clarissa left without a word the moment we were dismissed. I rolled my eyes and thanked Madam Pomfrey for us both. As I left the hospital wing I heard voices around the corner and paused.

"Piss off, Xavier." Clarissa was saying.

"Father won't be happy when he hears how much trouble you got into." He replied.

"Like I care, he's not my father." She sneered.

"You live under our house and our rules. Leave Reese alone or he'll find out about everything you've done."

"Go ahead" I heard her storm off.

Rounding the corner I saw Xaviers face change. "Hey Jay." He said, smiling.

"Hey." I hesitated, was he really like that towards his own sister?

"How are you feeling? I heard what happened." He asked.

"I'm fine. How'd you hear?" I asked curiously.

"I got it out of Reese. I could tell she was upset last night." He shrugged. "My sister is a no good Slytherin. Not that all Slytherins are bad. I mean most are. But you aren't." He fumbled over his words awkwardly.

"Thanks." I mumbled. "See you around."

Later that day I received a note from McGonagall explained tonight's detention.

Your detention will be spent helping Hagrid in the Forbidden forest tonight. Meet Filtch at the front door no later than 10:15.

I groaned. Detention would be in the one place I already spent too much time. Regardless I wondered what exactly we would be doing with Hagrid.

By the time dinner rolled around I had told Reese everything. First about detention then the way I heard Xavier acting. She didn't really believe me and thought Clarissa must have enticed that behavior out of him, like she had with me. Clarissa was good at pushing people's buttons.

As I headed for my first night of detention with Clarissa she wished me good luck.

Detention in the forbidden forest? Wasn't it Forbidden? For a reason? I groaned as I met the grounds keeper, a squib no less, at the door. Jay stood already waiting with her arms crossed.

"You got us into this mess. The least you could do was show up on time." She remarked.

"I am on time and it wasn't me who drew first." I reminded her.

Filtch lead us down the winding dirt path to the game keeper's shaggy hut. Hagrid walked out with his cross bow in hand.

"What's that for?" I nearly screeched.

"Just in case." He said. "Tonight you'll be helping me track down injured unicorns. I've spotted their blood a couple times. There's one out there, injured." He explained.

"Do you know what attacked it?" Jay asked, a look of worry across her face. "Could it have been-"

"No. Well I don't know but it's worth looking into." He walked us a few feet into the forest. "Now I'll go with fang that way." He pointed. "You and Klins go that direction. I've seen blood in both areas. If you need help or find the unicorn send red sparks into the sky."
