Term was about to start back. I hadn't yet thought of how to break the news to my friends. Should I even tell them?

More than that, I knew this wasn't over. Something else of my mother's was still here, in the Slytherin common room. I had read the journal at least a dozen times, trying to learn anything else about Bellatrix Lestrange. It mentioned her spell book. It was somewhere in the Slytherin common room but I had been unable to figure out where. I could recall one of the letters mentioning it too.

The hideous colors had finally faded from my hair. Snape gave the twins detention and didn't ask me why I was in the room of requirement as I knew he would. Gryffindor lost 20 points because of them. I still smiled at the thought.

Once I started to hear students trickling in to the common room I left the dormitory. There was a buzz as friends reunited after the holidays and showed off their new gifts. I saw my friends enter and look around. I waited until they saw me, Tracey and Chelsea's faces lit up and they dropped their trunks to run and hug me.

"We missed you so much!" Chelsea said.

"Did you get our gifts?" Tracey asked.

"Yes. I have to show you something." I said eagerly, too impatient to wait.

They grabbed their trunks and we rushed to our dorm room. Neither of the other girls were here yet so it was the perfect time.

They threw their trunks to the foot of their bed and came over to my bed. I pulled out my mother's necklace from the small black box I was hiding it in. They gasped. "Is that?"

"Yep. My mother's necklace." They took a moment to study it.

"Do you think it has any magical properties?" Tracey asked.

"I don't know. So much happened over the holidays, I have a lot to tell you."

"Go on. Tell us everything." Chelsea said.

The door burst open and Pansy Parkinson strode in. She had her trunk levitating behind her and a small, obviously expensive, bag over her arm. I hid the necklace quickly. "I'll tell you later." I whispered, not wanting anyone else to overhear it.

They both looked disappointed but nodded. "We should head to dinner. Get some good seats at the table." Chelsea said. She had a point. After having the Slytherin table all to myself over the holidays, I forgot it was normally hard to get a good seat.

I entered the castle following my brother. The holidays had been wonderful but I was wondering how Jay and the Weasley twins were doing.

"See you around, sis." Ced called as we parted ways at the entrance hall.

"See you!" I called back as his friends seemed to swallow him up. I laughed a little, everyone loved him. I turned around to head to the Gryffindor common room when I saw the familiar black hair. "Jay!" I hollered over the loud buz of people in the entrance hall. She turned and gave me a small smile as I headed towards her. Her face suddenly lost the smile and she shook her head and walked in the opposite direction. Was she avoiding me? This was new. Over Christmas she had sent me a card and my favorite candy, along with a Slytherin flag that said 'come to the dark side, we have chocolate frogs'.

I frowned as her dark hair disappeared before I could catch up. The crowd was too thick. It was nearly a full moon and her mood was likely all over the place, but why run from me? I already knew her secret. Dinner would be soon, maybe I'd catch her then.

Halfway up the stairs to the common room I found two red heads blocking my path. "Fred! George!" I exclaimed. "How were the holidays here at Hogwarts?"
