It was January 18th; the coldest day of the year, and you were walking around Manhattan with a large pile of wet clothes.
Normally, you would hang the clothes on a clothesline near where you had washed the clothes, but lately the weather had been so cold that the wet clothes would freeze.
A shiver ran down your spine as you neared your destination.
You were almost there when you walked into somebody. "S-sorry." you said through chattering teeth.
"Y/N?" the person asked.
Wait, you knew that voice! You knew this voice very well.
Looking up, you saw your boyfriend, Jack Kelly.
"Jack!" you exclaimed.
"Y/N, what are ya doin' out here?! Ya gonna freeze to death!" he asked.
"I was bringing the clothes back to dry." you explained.
"Forget the clothes! Come back to the lodgin' house wit me. You can't stay out here any longer!"
"But Jack-"
"I ain't takin' 'no' for an answer! Now come on!" Jack grabbed your wrist and pulled you in the general direction of the lodging house.
"Jack! I've got to get these clothes somewhere to dry first!" you protested.
Jack thought about this for a moment before responding "You can dry them at the lodgin' house! Now let's go!"
"Fine!" you said, too cold to argue.

"Are ya any warmer?" Jack asked.
You currently sat in front of the small fire place in the lodging house.
"Hardly." you said, scowling at the wooden floor.
On your way back to the lodging house, the DeLancy brothers had started a fight with Jack. You and Jack fought well and knocked the brothers out, but Oscar had pushed you to the snowy ground and held you there for a few minutes. The snow had soaked through your dress, leaving you soaked.
Jack sat down next to you, drawing you out of your thoughts.
"Listen Y/N, I'm really sorry." Jack said softly.
"For what? I'm not mad at you, Jack." you reassured him, planting a kiss in his cheeks.
"But I am planning to soak the DeLancy brothers some day." you continued.
Jack pulled you closer to him, his arm snaking around your waist. The two of you sat by the fire for a while before He pulled you into his lap and hugged you.
With Jack's arms around you and your face buried in his chest, you felt a lot warmer.
"Don't stop. You're really warm..." you mumble into his chest.
"That can be arranged." he smirked, kissing you on the head.
Everything was perfect at that moment. You forgot about being cold and wet. You didn't care that you would probably get fired from your job. The DeLancys were forgotten at the moment; as long as Jack was with you, you were happy.
