"I don't know, I'm not sure it's any good..." Vinnie said, shaking his head. "...I mean, the band and I really want this album to be one of the best...so the songs really have to be above the bar..." He explained. "...I've been working on it for days now but I just don't think it's going to work..."

"Vinnie, you're an amazing guitarist and an incredible songwriter..." His girlfriend, Annabelle, praised him. "...there's absolutely no way it's anything less than great..." She added, giving him a confident smile. "...may I hear it, please?"

"...well...okay..." He finally agreed, returning her smile; picking up his guitar as he began to play, his soft and melodic voice soon filling the room as he then also began to sing.

"You tell me that you're leaving, and I'm trying to understand,

I had myself believing, I could take it like a man...

But if you gotta go, then you gotta know,

That it's killing me,

And all the things I never seem to show,

I gotta make you see..."

"You had to see it, there were-" Paul's voice then interrupted as he and Gene both came into the recording studio. "-whoa...what's going on in here?" He asked, having paused when he seen  Vinnie and Annabelle.

"...hey, guys..." Vinnie then greeted them as he stopped playing. "...I was just letting Annabelle hear one of the songs I've been working on for the new album..."

"Don't tell me you're still trying to make that low key ballad 'I Still Love You' work?!" Gene scoffed, rolling his eyes.

"For your information, he is...and it happens to be a terrific song..." Annabelle snapped, making her dislike for the band's two superior members evident. "...go ahead, sweetheart..."

Both The Starchild and The Demon looked at one another, laughing.

"Yeah...go ahead...'sweetheart'..." Paul teased.

Smiling, Vinnie then picked up his guitar and resumed playing; picking right up where he had left off.

"Girl, it's been so long, now tell me...

Tell me how could it be...

The one of us knows the two of us don't belong, in each other's company..."

"Okay, we've heard it...Annabelle's heard it...I think that's enough..." Paul then interrupted for a second time.

"...but I wasn't fini-" Vinnie said as he stopped playing once again, trying to explain and reason.

"...I think we were all on the verge of falling asleep, Vin..." Gene added, laughing once again. "...you seriously need to up the melody a bit if you want it to be good, otherwise it's a real bore..."

"...I told you it wasn't any good..." Vinnie then said, sighing; looking over at Annabelle with a heartbroken and hopelessly defeated expression.
