Percy didn't like anyone. Except for his mother. His father died and left him at a young age. His mother married a drunkard, who was abusive as well, to help pay the bills. She's not married to him anymore, though. Thankfully. So you can't blame him for not trusting anyone. He kept to himself, drawing in a notebook. No one saw what was in that notebook. Not even his mother. He always kept it with him not letting anyone touch it. He didn't have any friends and ignored everyone who talked to him.

He groaned when he found out that they had a project to do with a partner in English. And worse, they were assigned partners.

"Annabeth Chase and Percy Jackson."

'Oh, come on!' He groaned. Annabeth was the person who never gave up on him. She kept talking to him even though he ignored her. She never left him alone even when he shouted at her to leave her alone. She was annoying, honestly. But, he was kind of happy she did that. She even saw one of his drawings. It was of a black Pegasus. It was by accident, of course. He would never show her a drawing willingly. It was because of that she pestered him so much.

"Awesome! We're partners!" She said.
"Yep, amazing."
"Oh, come on! Don't tell me you're not even a little happy that I'm your partner!"
"No, I'm not even a little happy you're my partner."
"Ouch. Anyway, who do you think we should do the project on?"
"What should we do for the project again? I wasn't paying attention."
"When do you ever pay attention?"
"True."
"We are supposed to do a project on one of the Greek Gods. We should do it on Athena, obviously."
"No, we're doing it on Poseidon."
"Athena."
"Poseidon."
"Athena."
"Poseidon."
"Athena."

He was about to say Poseidon again, but then he realized that they were shouting and the entire class was staring at them. Annabeth gave everyone a glare and they turned back to their work. Percy didn't blame them. Annabeth looked even more scary when she glared.

"Okay, how about we compromise and go with Hades?" Annabeth said.
"Why not? We can meet up at my house after school. I'll tell you the address at lunch" He said.
"No need."
"Why? You already know it? Please tell me you're not stalking me."
"No, seaweed brain. We're walking together. No excuses."
"But-"
"Ah, what did I just say?"
"Ugh, fine."

The bell rang and Percy was the first one out the door. Annabeth did not know why he did that. He pushed away everyone who tried to get close to him. He was friends with Jason, Piper, Leo and a few others. But after sometime he pushed them away and became a loner. Always drawing in that notebook of his. She was not obsessed with him, she was just observant. And Thalia, her best friend, was his cousin. So yeah, it was kind of hard not to know.

School ended quick. Annabeth was excited to say the least. She liked Percy. No, not like that. But, as a person. Sure, there was not much to like but she guessed it was just his character. She understood the trust issues thing. Clearly, something happened. Whatever it was, it changed his perspective about people. While Annabeth was lost in her thoughts, waiting for Percy, someone sneaked up next to her.

"BOO!" Percy shouted. And let out a groan.

Annabeth, being who she is, judo-flipped him. Then, she apologized, realizing it was Percy, and helped him up.

"Shit, sorry! This is what you get for sneaking up on me."

"Well. Never doing that again. Let's go."

Annabeth kept apologizing till they reached his building. And Percy kept saying that it was fine. It got real annoying. They entered Percy's house. It was quite a pretty apartment. It was just the right size. Not to big or too small. 'That's what she said ' Annabeth thought, with a snicker.

"It's not much, but it's home. Mom, I'm home!"

"I was not laughing at your house. I actually like it. I was laughing at an inside joke. You won't get it."
