Annabeth walked into the coffee shop and she was hit with the wonderful smell of coffee beans in the middle of winter. She had found this place called 'The Half Blood Cafe' on the corner of her street a week after she moved to New York. While the coffee here was mediocre, the chocolate cake was to die for. And, there was this particular cashier who was very handsome. More hot, than handsome, but both would suffice.

He had messy black hair and beautiful sea green eyes. He was tall, taller than Annabeth, towering her 5'9 frame. He had a lean build, like that of a swimmer. Her best friend, Piper, would always come in with her to gawk at the other employee. Not so surprisingly, their relationship had blossomed much faster than Annabeth's, Piper being a more natural at flirting. Annabeth was still stuck at the staring, blushing and smiling phase with the boy behind the counter.

The man's name was Percy, as his name tag said. He seemed to be Annabeth's age. He probably went to the same college as Annabeth as well, but perhaps took a different course than herself. She has frequented herself to the cafe for at least two months now, and coincidentally always came during Percy's shift. So as she walked into the coffee shop, as usual, she hid a grin as she saw Percy looking bored as hell while attending to some random customer. A random customer who seemed to be interested in him. Annabeth scowled.

Percy looked up and saw the blonde chick again. When Percy had first seen her, she seemed like a goddess. He looked her up and down, taking in her tall frame, her stormy grey eyes and her long, curly blonde hair. Percy was never a smooth talker, and was always awkward with girls. He couldn't hold up a conversation with them despite being 20 years old. So naturally, when a beautiful woman came in and ordered coffee, he did what naturally came to him and stuttered like an idiot. It was a miracle that she could even understand what he was saying. He later found out that her name was Annabeth. She came in often during his shift and he thought it was something to do with her classes and not with the fact that she may actually like him.

So, while he was day dreaming about that beautiful woman, ignoring the girl in front of hi clearly flirting with him, she walked in. You really couldn't blame him for shooting up faster than Flash could possibly imagine to do, and give himself a terrible head-rush. Still seeing spots, he shooed the girl standing in front of him away, telling her that her order would be ready in a few. Annabeth grinned at him and began to repeat her order. But Percy cut her off before she could say anything. He asked her if she would be getting the usual. Annabeth nodded, grinning. Percy told her that her order would be ready in a few.

Annabeth went to her usual table next to the window and sat, looking at the snow outside. Christmas vacation was going to start soon. She sighed. Her professors were so going to load up on assignments.

Lost in her thoughts, she jumped when Percy placed her coffee and cake on the table, sliding into the seat across her. She looked at him surprised. He's never done that before. She looked at him, with a questioning look.

"It's my break."

Annabeth nodded and bit into her cake and proceeded to ignore him as she enjoyed her dessert. She had no patience to listen to other people talk as she ate the food of the gods. Even if she tried, she wouldn't be very successful.

Percy lied. He had taken his break half an hour ago and he wasn't allowed another break until another hour later. He got his friend, Jason, to cover for him so he could finally ask Annabeth out. He was done with the whole staring, smiling and blushing phase. He decided to be cheesy and romantic and wrote the word "date" and a question mark with cream on the coffee. Annabeth hadn't looked at her coffee yet, she was still enjoying her cake. Percy smiled. She was beautiful.

Annabeth looked up to see Percy staring at her, with a smile on his face. She was a little creeped out, to be honest. She shrugged and proceeded to drink her coffee when she noticed the words drawn on her drink. She gasped. So the boy finally had the guts to ask her out. Granted, she could've done it, but it was fun to see who would break first. Besides, Percy had done it in such a cheesy way that she never expected he could pull off.

She looked up to see Percy almost turn blue due to the lack of oxygen. She grinned. He was adorable. As soon as the words 'I would love to' came out of her mouth, Percy whooped and placed a kiss on her cheek. Then, he apologized saying that he needed to get back to work if he wanted to afford a good date next Friday. He grinned at placed a napkin with his number on it. He asked her to text him and left a grinning and blushing Annabeth. Percy's condition wasn't much different either, except for the fact that Annabeth had better skills at hiding her emotions. Percy was as red as a tomato and grinning like a maniac.

Jason gave him a weird look. He didn't care. He just asked out the most beautiful girl he had ever seen,, and she said yes.
