The dead are never truly gone. They linger in our minds and hearts and torture us with a malice they were not capable of in life. | Courtney M. Privett, Shadows of Absolution
Matt looked over at Morgan that next morning as he went through the guns and ammo that they had packed up before the pack had taken over their camp.
“DO you think someone sent them to us?” Matt blurted out.
Morgan looked back at him.
“I mean we never had a problem and then just all of a sudden we had problems.” Matt said back to him.
“You wanna say something?”
Matt shook his head as Ivan came out of the house that they had found while driving down the road at the last minute.
Ivan walked over to them, “Blaming someone for what happened to us yesterday is not how we work.”
Matt narrowed his eyes back at him, “She has done so much for us but I mean she killed 5 INFECTED on her own. What are we missing about this girl?”
Ryan skipped out of the house walking down to Matt and Morgan, “You are confused about Lauren.”
“What do you know about her?” Matt asked him back.
Ryan laughed back at him, “I really don’t know but I know of her.”
Morgan narrowed his eyes back at him. “What does that mean?”
“Lauren’s little sister partied and she partied hard. I use to run into her at parties and her sister had a massive drug problem which wasn’t always the best thing since her father kept a working clinic in their house. I used to watch Lauren show up to parties and drag her sister out to her car. I just know that Lauren is the person that you want next to you.”
Matt kept watching him.
“You wanna explain that?” Morgan said to him.
“I once watch Lauren takes a pool sticks to the back of some guys head because he was messing with her sister. And then she threatened to kill him if he ever went after her sister again.”
Morgan shook his head, “So you think Lauren is a strong fighter?”
“I once dated a chick that hung out with Lauren’s little sister. I heard some stories about their family and yea Lauren is a fighter.”
Ivan pointed out over the road, “I want you to bring her back. I want Madison back but I want Lorette back. You better bring Lorette back alive.”
Matt nodded his head as he got into the truck with Morgan getting into the passenger seat.
Owen and Ryan climbed into the back of the truck as Matt drove away from the house.
Ivan turned and went into the house as he saw Andrea at the door.
“Who would take our people?” Andrea looked up at him.
