Chapter 13: Inherited Passion

Just like any other lesson before, unlike German, Shoji and Yuna are right on time for the final lesson for the day: Music. Now Shoji is not the type of guy who originally was all too fond of music. That however changed once Yuuna got into his life. Yuuna had great passion for music, as well as singing like the angel of the castle Aincrad. She knew of herself that she was not a born fighter, not possessing the greatest fighting abilities. Therefore, she wanted to continue in SAO what she did best in real life: Singing. Not only did she get a lot of attention from other people around her, she even got tips from players from various rankings. From the most unknown player, up to the players who carry the titles: The Black Swordsman and Lightning Flash.

Not only did Yuuna continue what she was best at, she also unlocked a very rare, Extra Skill with this, this being the Chant Skill. The special thing about this skill, is that players get a special buff that replenishes other member's their HP whenever the boss takes damage. Since this serves as some kind of absorption power, Yuuna's Extra Skill was really useful in high Boss Floors. She once got asked whether she wanted to join the Assault Team, but the girl denied, knowing that she would have the greatest chance of dying on the field with the low-tier equipment and stats she got. For that reason, she sticked together with Shoji for the majority of her time.

"Alright, today you all should have prepared an original song that you will all present in front of each other.", interrupts the Music teacher. Shoji was in thought once again regarding some events in SAO, and therefore he did not pay attention to what his teacher was saying before. The only thing that he heard was that he had to prepare a song to present in front of his entire class.

Here is the problem though... he completely forgot forgot.

While both Shoji and Yuna are listening to the performances of other students, they can rate in their heads how they were doing. Some were decent, others were mediocre, while most of the students performed rather poorly. If Shoji hadn't met Yuuna back in Aincrad, he would be bored out of his mind right now. Luckily he did meet her, thus being able to find some kind of enjoyment out of other students' performances. The one who was most intrigued by the others students, was Yuna. Just like she is excited for most things she is about to do, she even seems more excited for this. It could be wondered why though. She has no song or anything written down on paper, thus not being able to sing herself. After a few people have sung for the others, the music teacher walks towards Shoji, giving him the sign to make his voice's debut.

"How about you Shoji, are you going to sing a song for us?", asks the teacher Shoji with a strict voice attached to it. Shoji seems kind of nervous, knowing that he hasn't prepared anything. "That's the thing, I forgot to bring my lyrics with me...", Shoji says being rather disappointed in himself. Teachers have faced many excuses, this being one of them. "This is a basic excuse for a basic music student. How will you graduate if you just don't do your homework properly?!", shouts the teacher at Shoji. Shoji, who is looking at the ground without having something to respond back to his teacher, would not know at all what to do in a situation like this.

Yuna on the other hand, who is watching the whole event happening right before her, grows really infuriating because of the teacher's comment. Knowing that she shouldn't rage nor go all out at him, she holds her anger, looking for a way to help her beloved friend who found himself in the danger zone. Without having any backup in mind, she stand her ground, reaching out for the teacher.

"He did not forget his lyrics. I've studied it back at his home and I know how to sing it.", Yuna tells the teacher with a serious tone. Yuna clearly is not fooling around this time, with Shoji having the feeling that she definitely has a plan to help him out. The other students, that include some unfamiliar yet also some familiar faces such as Asuna and Silica, all are blown away by Yuna's action to help Shoji.
