—————————-Jinyoung hadn't expected that at all from Chan, so it was easy to decipher the thoughts that were running through his mind as he looked at the other in a shocked manner. Chan sensed this and immediately backtracked, hoping he didn't sound like some demented fool.
"Look, look I am not trying to come off as rude or anything like that. But you have to understand that this is not an over reaction I love my boys with every part of me and I am raising them alone. And if so much as one piece of their childhood hurts them in any kind of way I won't know how to live with myself...".
Jinyoung panicked, stumbling over his words.
"No no, Chan you're right I shouldn't have said that I don't know what I was thinking I—-I promise to have this situation hashed out by the end of the day alright? You don't have to worry, I will take great care of your boys".
Jinyoung assures giving Chan a small shoulder rub. The father purses his lips bowing to the older,
"Thank you so much sir. This is greatly appreciated. Have a nice day".
"Enjoy your day Chan, if you need anything I am here".
Jinyoung mentions again slowly walking backwards into the classroom. Chan exchanges another thank you with the teacher before strolling back down the hall. He felt more than sorry for Chan, the guy being younger than him and taking care of seven children all by himself. He didn't know how he was doing it but he was doing an amazing job.
Woojin took no time picking up this energy which explains why he covers for the children most of the time. He had to call Chan for the sake of his job, it was against the rules to not report things to parents. If it was up to Woojin, he wouldn't have told Chan a thing.
But Chan had bigger fish to fry now that the situation was over. He was now headed to the arts and crafts store, making up another project that could quickly get rid of his day until the kids were home.
He searches the aisles for large pieces of construction paper and paintbrushes which he finds in the back of store. Of course, patrons stared at him adorably with Jeongin clinging to his chest.
"You know sometimes Jeongin, I know those people would pay me no mind if you weren't here".
He whispers throwing palettes of paint into his cart. He strolls further with his eye becoming glued to a pottery maker. How neat was that, to make your own pottery within the comfort of your own home. He would love to buy it for the children but——
Chan knows better.
The cart pushes until Chan thought he had hit some sort of speed bump but it was only that he mistakenly bumped into someone.
"Oh! I'm so sorry I didn't mean to—".
"No it's okay! It's okay".
The woman relieved with a toddler in the front of her cart and her husband behind, giving Chan the dirtiest of looks. Chan awkwardly pushes his own cart into another aisle with his cheeks flushing red. He now noticed how weird he must've looked surrounded by the plethora of families who were in the store shopping away; maybe to go home and decorate their child's room.
Chan ambled down the artsy aisles sluggishly, hearing the sharp pitches of laughter between couples followed by a little laugh or squeal from their child. He tried as best as he could to dispose his thoughts but nothing—absolutely nothing could keep him from imagining what it would be like if he weren't in this alone.
