"And we're here! Welcome to Everglen," Biana declared, her heart shaped lips parting into a grin. Sophie skidded to a halt.
Standing before here was the most marvellous house she had ever seen. The house looked like a shimmering crystal palace. There were fountains everywhere, and Sophie could see the little rainbows glowing. A lake stretched out behind it, looking rather ugly compared to the rest of the house.
"Woah," Sophie couldn't help but let a whisper out of her mouth. The Vackers were literally royalty.
"Follow me, we're going to the back of the house," Biana said, opening the ravishing gates, which had studded pearls and crystals. Even the path was stunning, it was laid in an intricate pattern, and Sophie couldn't help but notice it also sparkled. Biana opened the front door and walked in. Sophie glanced in, and took a step inside. She gasped. Twinkling chandeliers hung down from the ceiling, and jewelled mosaics filled the walls. Biana smiled, looking a tad bit embarrassed.
"Why you must be Sophie, the new student at the school!" a beautiful woman with wavy chocolate brown hair and cobalt blue eyes greeted them. She looked flawless, and her face was sculpted beautifully. Sophie couldn't help but notice the resemblance between her and Biana.
"I'm Della, and this is Alden," a man with brown hair and teal eyes smiled at Sophie.
"Nice to meet you Sophie," Sophie smiled shyly and shook his hand.
"We're playing Base Quest in the woods," Biana added.
"Alright. Well have fun!" Della said. Biana led Sophie to the back door, and beyond that, and huge expanse of woodlands. Sophie gasped. She was sure she had already gasped more than she had in her entire lifetime.
"Come on, Fitz and Keefe are waiting for us," Biana said beckoning towards the trees. Sophie's heart started hammering. Fitz?
"Hi Sophie!" Fitz smiled, and Sophie felt her face get hot.
"Hi," she mumbled.
"The mysterious girl from detention!" Keefe exclaimed, grinning. He ran a hand through his disheveled hair, and his ice blue eyes glinted in amusement, Sophie felt the corner of her mouth twitch.
"Sophie doesn't know how to play," Biana interrupted, staring at Keefe.
"Ok so there's two teams, and each team chooses a spot to call their base. One team goes questing, which is looking for the other team's base. The other team guards their base. If the questing team manages to touch the base, they win. It's kind of like hide and seek mixed with capture the flag," Keefe explained quickly. Sophie blinked, trying to comprehend everything.
"I call Fitzy's team!" Keefe declared. Biana rolled her eyes.
"Just because he's the best at it," Biana snorted. "Well I'm with Sophie."
"Alright, you guys can go questing and we'll do the guarding," Fitz offered. Biana nodded and grinned at Sophie. The two boys disappeared into the forest and left Biana and Sophie there.
"Come on, follow me, I know the best place for a base," Biana said. Sophie followed her until they reached an old tree that looked like it was going to fall any second.
"How old is this tree?" Sophie asked, glancing unsurely at the trunk.
"Don't worry, its safe. We've climbed it tons of times before," Biana assured. Sophie felt her worry loosen up a little.
"Let's go win this game."
