Y/N POV
After recent events, I feel like Jake and I have grown even closer. Sometimes we still had little issues, like I might get a little clingy, or sometimes he might get a little jealous, but we were better than ever.
I was about to text him about coming over later, because I was supposed to bring the movie, but he texted me first.Tall Guy: Hey sry I have to cancel tonight I have stuff going on.
Short Stack: oh okay. What's goin on?
Tall Guy: it's nothing I'm just busy love you 😘
Short Stack: okay love you too 😘I put down my movies and sighed.
"Well now I'm open for the night."
I sat on my bed and watched (favorite movie) by myself. I missed Jake's arm around me.
Nope, don't be clingy.
So I didn't.*time skip*
The next day I was at school I walked in and stuck my skateboard in my locker. Jake said he didn't need a ride, so I skated instead.
When I looked around, I couldn't find him.
Then I saw him whispering with Brooke.
"Hey Tall Guy!"
When I walked up, Brooke smiled sheepishly and scurried away.
Huh.
"What were you guys talking about?"
He wrapped an arm around me.
"Nothing, don't worry about it."
That's kinda weird. Whatever, just don't worry about it.
We walked to our first class and Jake sat down next to me.
Every now and then though, I could see him lean over and whisper something to Brooke, making her giggle or nod.
It made me feel kinda weird, but I did my best to ignore it.*time skip*
I grabbed my skateboard out of my locker, and was about to leave, when Rich stopped by.
"Hey Rich." I gave a two-finger wave.
"Hey, what'th up? Need a ride?"
He wrapped an arm across my shoulders.
I fidgeted with my shirt, tracing my scars through the fabric (a habit I'd gotten into recently).
"No I'm fine. Thanks Rich."
"I wath jutht wondering thince Jake'th been pretty... buthy (busy) rethently."
I shrugged.
"Yah, but it's fine."
He smiled warmly. Rich was a good friend.
Suddenly I heard a loud throat clearing behind us.
I turned to see Jake standing behind us, staring at Rich.
"Hey, can I... steal my girlfriend for a second?"
Rich chuckled. "Yah thorry."
He removed his arm from my shoulder and Jake pulled me closer to him.
"See ya Rich." He waved.
"Oh! Um... bye I guess." He walked off.
"Hey Tall Guy, you're doing it again."
He knew what I was referring too, and his jealous vibe died down a little.
"Sorry, can't help it. You're too precious."
He kissed the top of my head, making an uncontrollable giggle erupt from my lips.
"So... wanna come over tonight? I have Breakfast Club?"
"Oh! I'm so sorry I can't, I have plans."
I huffed.
"Fine. Whatever, have fun."
As I walked away, I was about to ride off, but Jake called behind me.
"I love you!"
"Love you too!"*time skip sorry there's a lot*
"I don't know, I feel like he's been avoiding me!" I tell Justin. We were sitting on my bed watching Breakfast Club again.
"Well why don't you tell him that?"
I sighed.
"Because he's working on not being jealous, I'm working on not being clingy. It's a thing, I just don't wan to ruin it."
"Well sure but," he sat up and looked at me. "if it's bothering you this much, you should tell him."
"Yah I guess. I just don't want to be a burden."
Dustin sighed and punched my arm.
"You're already a burden. Just tell him."
"Yah, you're a dick."
"You're a weirdo."
"Asshole."
"Loser."
"Dweeb."
"Brat."
I froze.
My father's voice rang through my head.
Brat. Brat. Brat.
You're still a selfish brat.
Stupid brat!
"I- um... heh. F-freak."
I tried to keep the fight going, but Dustin didn't buy it.
"What's wrong?"
"*huff* Nothing just... my dad used to call me that all the time. I can't get his stupid goddamn voice out of my head."
My eyes filled with hot tears, and my hands balled into fists.
"I'm sorry l, I didn't mean to-"
"No it's no your fault. I just never know when it's gonna happen."
He nodded.
"Just- make sure you tell Jake."
"Yah."
We continued to watch the movie..
