"Follow me this way."
Mercedes reluctantly followed Jeremiah. She didn't want him to drag her. He brought her into the dinning room where dinner was already ready.
"You need to eat."
Mercedes stared at the food. She was still cautious. She turned to Jeremiah pushing her luck.
"I'm not hungry. I especially won't be eating with you. Just let me go."
Jeremiah clinched his fists.
"You need to eat. We have somewhere to go after. Eat!"
His sudden raise of his voice made Mercedes jump. She nervously set at the table and began eating. Jeremiah set at the other head of the table and tried to talk to her.
"So how has my less handsome brother been?"
Mercedes raised her eyebrow.
"I'm doing what you want. I'm eating. I'm not talking to you."
Jeremiah glared.
"I have been kind to you. You are lucky I don't kill you now."
Mercedes swallowed hard.
"So where... are we going..?"
The smile that appeared on Jeremiah's face made her stomach feel uneasy.
"We will see someone who can help you love."
His words concerned Mercedes, and she was not about to find out where he was taking her. She stood up from the table and tried to run from the room. Another pair of muscular more vampire complexion arms wrapped around her. He held her tight. She could feel his slightly warm breath on her neck. He whispered in her ear.
"I guess we can go now."
Mercedes began to thrash around and tried to break free. Jeremiah wrestled with her until she ran out of breath and energy. He picked her up bridal style and began walking down the hallway. Subconsciously she leaned her head against his chest. Her vision was going in and out.
"Please... Jeremiah... don't.. hurt me.."
Jeremiah looked down with a smile.
"Shhh. It is okay. This is going to help you. If you are tired you may sleep until we get there."
She felt Jeremiah slowly swaying her as he walked down the halls towards the exit. She had been using so much of her energy the past three days she couldn't keep herself awake anymore. Everything went black.
The cold air stung her cheeks. The sounds of footsteps caused her eyes to shoot open. She realised she was sitting almost up, but when she tried to move, she realized they restrained her to the table. A semi average height man bald man with small round pink glasses walked around her with medical supplies.
"What is going on?!"
Mercedes tried in vain to get up. A familiar face came into view.
"This is going to help you. This is Dr. Hugo Strange. He is going to do some tests on you."
This entire situation frightened her. She pleaded with Jeremiah.
"I'm sorry I was so rude. Please, what is he going to do to me? Don't let him. Please."
Jeremiah stroked her head gently. "I will be right here. There is no need to worry."
Dr. Strange smiled wickedly.
"Your scans I already took are incredible miss Helleman."
He held a needle full of some liquid. She couldn't make out the color very well.
"What is that?! Jeremiah no! Please!"
Dr. Strange stuck the needle into her arm. Her whole body inflamed with pain. Her worst fears come to life. She saw her family being shot in the head. Just as she saw Jerome stab Ethan in the chest, the pain was the worst. The room filled with her screams. The pain and the images she saw were enough to make her exhausted. Jeremiah pulled Dr. Strange to the side.
"So how is she doctor?"
Hugo smiled brightly.
"She is just as strong and incredible as when she was born. My work is a huge success. You may take her home. For now."
Jeremiah picked her up bridal style after they released her. Mercedes laid into his chest. She gathered every bit of courage and strength she could find within her. The second they get outside, she flipped out of his arms and took off running. Jeremiah screamed in anger running after her. Mercedes ran for what felt like miles. She thought she was sweating until she wiped her cheek. There was blood on her hand. She had a small cut just under her left eye. She realized she had stopped too long catching her breath and continued running. She was getting exhausted until she heard her name. She stopped running and looked up to see another young woman standing before her.
"Bailey...?"
Bailey looked at her sympathetically. She pulled her close.
"Come on. Let's get you back. You look extremely exhausted. You can explain what happened later."
Mercedes leaned against her as she was led back to Jerome's safe house.
