Fall was always a happy time for Bakugou. He liked the red tree leaves. They would fall on him when he slept, a crinkly blanket of browns and reds and yellows. Jumping in leaves was something he would think he and Kirishima would enjoy. But just like with everything else, he didn't bring it up.
Things were content. And when change happened, as it undoubtedly would eventually, there was a chance it would all go wrong. And Bakugou prayed with everything he had that it wouldn't. And he didn't dare to be the cause of change.
As the warm Fall melted away into an increasingly cold winter, Bakugou began to think about his village. It didn't have a name, and if things were simpler, Bakugou would have simply referred to it as home. But things weren't simple at all. Bakugou didn't want to go back, but some part of him told him he should. His mother and father were waiting, and maybe the nostalgia from the old times would fix everything.
Because there had to be a fix for the perpetual emptiness. There had to be a fix for all of this.
Rain was coming soon though, and maybe that would clear his head.

Kirishima's POVKirishima was okay now, he supposed. He wasn't quite sure what they were doing lurking outside Bakugou's hometown, but deciding to take action might upset the balance, might upset the delicate rhythm that him and Bakugou had stitched together.
The leaves were disappearing from the trees faster than he'd hoped they would.
They'd found a cave near identical to the one they'd lived in long ago. Kirishima's first thought when he'd chosen the cave was "this is just like where we fell in love, maybe we can pull it off again." But it was foolish, no doubt the spawn of all the nights Kirishima had spent in the past listening to starry eyed girls in the village telling Bakugou stories of fairytale love. There were gilded stories a Prince Charming coming to sweep them off their feet, with a dazzling, beautiful smile and a golden heart. Kirishima had thought maybe Bakugou could be his Prince Charming. But he had to face it now, neither of them had the golden hearts or dazzling smiles to be perfect enough to be able to sweep someone off their feet.
Love just didn't click like that. No one was really meant for each other. People just made it works, each giving up a portion of their life to have "happiness". And Kirishima really had thought Bakugou and him had clicked. In the end though, t'd just been the wandering mind of a foolish boy too naive to realize that he wasn't living in a fantasy.
But Kirishima couldn't shake from his mind his never ending craving for Bakugou.
