"You stupid bitch" he screamed throwing an empty beer bottle at june's head only for it to smash against the wall. June ran closer to the door only to be dragged back by her father dragging her back by her hair harshly. Hard enough to rip it from the root. She could barely blink before she was held by here neck against the wall. She whimpered from the pain as her head met harshly with the wall. Black dots smearing her vision , trying to blink them away.

The pressure on her neck only tightened as she clawed at his hands so she could breath. He only banged her head against the wall.

"WHERE THE FUCK WERE YOU" he spat in her face , so angry that his face was red. She could smell the alcohol coming off of him , making her wrinkle her nose in disgust.

The house itself was in shambles. Wallpaper peeling off from the damp. Beer stains on the wall from their previous arguments and specks of blood that no matter how hard June tried to clean would not disappear. Empty bottles and cans littered the floor and one window was broken from when junes father pushed her through it last week for not cooking what he wanted.

"f-fuck y-you" june gasped out. Only to be met with a fist in her eye that was sure to bruise badly. Once he started he didn't stop. He never stopped.

Blood pooled in her mouth as soon as she fell to the floor. Spitting it out on the rough pine. Her drunked father kicked her in the ribs making her curl up in a ball on the floor.

If anyone had looked in her eyes they would say , cold. Dark , numb as if everything was broken to the point of uncaring. But beyond that in the darkness of her eyes they would have seen rage. Enough to cause fear into those who looked at her.

She had her fathers eyes.

She froze , detaching herself from the situation and waiting for him to get tired and pass back out on the couch like always.

This all started just because she decided to go to school today for once. She needed to if she ever had a hope of leaving this hell hole. He was passed out cold in the recliner from the night before so she went. Only to come back and face him again.

Every time she walked out the door she had the same thought pass through her mind.

'What if I don't come back'.

In the late hours of the night june once again snuck out of the old house by her rickety bedroom window. The crickets chirping quietly around the bayou. Wet mud almost making her slip as she walked to the main road and in to town.

She needed to go the the pharmacy to restock the first aid kit in her back. June looked around wide eyes at all the street lights. Drunken tourists laughing and dancing with the locals in the middle of the street.

The pink haired teen elbowed her way though the crowd of people harshly. Not in the mood to be around people at the moment. Finally seeing the white door she let out a sigh of relief. Making her way quickly to the shelves to get what she needed before they closer. She was almost finished when she heard them.

Lucy Jackson was the pharmacist's daughter and was also the biggest bitch in town. Who unfortunately for june was working at the tills tonight. She growled in frustration as if her day hadn't been bad enough.

Lucy's friends the 'popular' crowd stood around the tills messing around and scaring away customers by shouting what they were buying. Unfortunately she joined the line leading to the till. Keeping her head down in the hope they wouldn't see her bruised face and tugging down her sleeves to cover her arms a little more.

All chattering stopped when she placed her items on the counter. Hands shaking slightly before balling them into fists trying to keep her shit together.

"Well if it isn't the school freak" Lucy sneered scanning the items before throwing them back at her. Her jock friends shoved her around in her already sore ribs making her flinch before falling on the floor , making them all laugh. She hurriedly picked up her things and stood back up.

"Fifteen dollars bitch. Now pay up and leave so we're not scarred for life" her boyfriend Daniel taunted , eyeing her up and down.

She shuffled through her pockets and threw the money at the bitchy cashier before storming out. Sticking up her middle finger as she closed the door.

June shook with rage from the days events. First her father then her class. Life was a bitch today just like every day. She stopped outside the bar Russo's along the quarter to try calm down before she did something stupid.

A cop car was parked just ten feet away with two cops standing outside. A teenager in the back seat.

The thought suddenly crept up on her again.

'What if I don't come back?'

She knew it was a bad idea. She knew she was being an idiot as she walked forward but she had no other option of she wanted to avoid going home for the night.

Without thinking she tapped one of the cops on the shoulder to gain his attention. "Sorry". Before raising her fist and hitting him HARD in the face enough for him to fall down.

Next thing she knew she was being pinned to the floor by his partner with handcuffs and thrown in the car.

Vacation time.

"Wynonna White" the detective she hit said dropping her file down on his desk across from her. "I'm detective lamontague. You mind tellin me why ya pulled that stunt back there. Ya know punchin a cop's assault right?".

The pink haired June kept her eyes glued to the floor expressionless. Giving nothing away.

" ya gonna tell me how you got that black eye" he asked trying to look at her face before drawing his attention to her neck with fresh dark purple bruises , the same scattered down her arms. "Somebody do that to ya".

Still no answer.

He huffed leaning back in his chair. Clearly the kid was in a bad situation. " you know I can't help if you don't say anything ".

" never helps " June muttered glancing up at him quickly. "Nothing helps".

The detective sighed before scribbling down on a piece of paper and standing up. " good news is I'm not charging ya for anything ".

" Great " she sassed standing up to walk away. He held onto her arm when she pushed open the door , making her flinch noticeably. Instead a crumpled piece of paper was put in her hand.

"If you ever need anything........ give me a call".
