Four weeks later
Spencer wanted to scream. The team had just been called on a case. The first one since June's abduction and he was nervous wondering if she would even still be there when he got back. It had been weeks and he noticed how much she was distancing herself from him. Likely prepping to break up with him. Over six months pregnant and she still hadn't even mentioned the baby to him once. The unknown scaring him. They hadn't even told the rest of the team or June her boss. The fear of him coming home to an empty apartment with no clue you were even there other than a letter haunted his thoughts.
Packing his go bag felt like a goodbye he didn't want to say.
JJ had been suspended for another few weeks without pay so at least he didn't have to deal with her until he got back. Morgan and Rossi had other been supporting him though this tough time as best they could but he knew the only way to fix this was to talk.
And he was scared of that talk

June was not coping well after what happened. Or the thought of a baby. Never having a mother and having to be one was scary. The thought of ending up like her father was worse.
She had buried herself with work instead. Dancing so much she barely even say spencer unless it was in passing. Any time she looked at him she thought of how much she'd hurt how, about how she having a baby and I made her feel like she was having a panic attack whenever she thought it.
She couldn't even sleep with having nightmares of being back it that basement when she was still a child herself. She'd gotten away and ten years later her sense of safety was shattered at being dragged back to relive it.
She winced from the pain in her feet as she walked back to her apartment. Spencer had practically moved in since they got back. Which was a small comfort to her.
A sharp pain in her stomach made her freeze. It only lasted a second but it got her attention, making her freeze on the sidewalk. Placing a hand softly on her stomach and gasping in surprise. Feeling it again she smiled slightly.
Their baby was kicking. She barely even had a bump. It wasn't even noticeable unless you really looked for it. She doubted spencer even noticed it yet either.
But the slight little movement had made her the happiest she'd been in weeks.
Walking into a baby store suddenly sounding appealing to chase the happy feeling. She looked down at her stomach before continuing to walk down the street. Deciding it wouldn't hurt to at least look at baby things they eventually will need.
But once she saw the baby clothes she was helpless to stop herself. First time in weeks to feel something other than fear. She's picked up several little themed outfits that made her smile. Stopping when she caught sight of a crib. Nearly putting everything back as guilt sunk in about spencer.
She hadn't even told him about what she thought of the baby yet here she was preparing for it without him. She clutched the clothes tighter and moved away from the crib to pay for the clothes.
She would wait for him to get the rest.

Throughout the whole case spencer had been distracted thinking about June.
Morgan was trying to be helpful but he honestly just didn't want it. At night he had his phone in hand wanting to call but to scared to. He'd always found June's voice soothing to him but know he just felt guilt at avoiding the sound of it.
Hotch had noticed his behaviour to but hadn't asked him about it yet.
He sat alone on the plane. He took his time at his desk. Anything to avoid going home. Eventually he ended up on the metro on his way there. Clutching his bag so hard his knuckles turned white.
Spencer trudged down the hallway, steps getting allowed as he neared the door. It was like he wasn't even in control of his body as he unlocked the door.
The lights were on and his shoulders dropped. He had been gone for four days and felt a hint of relief at still seeing his stuff where he lest it rather than packed in boxes.
But he still didn't see her.
He sighed, setting his bag and keys on the table by the door. Walking the the kitchen area of the loft to get a drink made him stop mid step. A small smile tugged at his lips as he moved closer to get a better look at the ultrasound picture taped to the fridge. He hadn't been there when he left spencer was sure of that. They hadn't moved it from the coffee table since they'd gotten back from new Orleans. So he took its placement as a good sign.
Letting out a yawn spencer walked out of the kitchen drink in hand moving to the couch. Catching himself at the last minute as he nearly tripped over something.
Colourful bags littered the floor around the couch.
Ignoring it for now he sat on the couch and closer his eyes letting out a breath he didn't know her was holding.
"are you not gonna open them? "
Spencer jumped at the sound of June's tired voice behind him. Turning his head as she moved to sit on the couch next to him and bringing the bags closer. His eyes glues to her slightly curved stomach in amazement and the tiny baby bump he hadn't gotten to see before now. Not even realising her handing him one of the bags.
"open them" June said excitedly, showing him that smile he'd missed so much in the last few weeks.
Wordlessly spencer put his hand in the bag grabbing something soft. Pulling his hand out he smiled at the tiny baby onesie. He felt as if he could finally breath again at knowing that June actually wanted the baby. He indulged in the moment watching June happily show him what was in all the bags filled with baby clothes. Handing them to his to fast for him to get a good look.
"and it kicked me" June told him excitedly grabbing his hand to place on her stomach.
Spencer was in amazement looking at his hand before letting out the biggest smile he had in weeks at the tiny little push again his hand he felt.
"it kinda feels weird right" June smiled up at him.
His smile couldn't dissappear from his face he was so happy.
