Chapter 3 (B2)

You decide to take the path on your right.

You are still hesitating a bit. Turning left or right does not really matter... does it? Johan then speaks up.

"Most people tend to go left when they're lost. This means we have less chances of falling into a trap if we take the opposite direction."

Exactly what you were thinking: this man's wisdom is as high as Jade's superficiality. You are now convinced and cautiously take the path on your right. Jade clearly disagrees and is constantly reminding you of her disapproval on the matter. You swear to yourself to always carry an adhesive tape from now on. How is Benjamin even able to bear her?

You almost trip over an unidentified object. You immediately stop and find a little knife between your feet. Even fate wants you to shut the other cry-baby up! You bite your lower lip to avoid laughing. You should not think of this in this kind of situation. Your companions do not seem to pay attention to you and keep moving forward. You bend down and pick the sharp weapon up. It is immaculate, which is actually a pretty good sign. You cannot prevent yourself from thinking about your friends. Are they still alive?

"Y/N? Is something wrong?"

Johan eventually notices that you have stayed away. He slowly comes back to you. You focus again on the knife, that you are still holding in your hand.

Your turn! Do you want to secretly keep the knife, or to show it to the others?

You prefer keeping the knife.

You do not know why, but something is telling you that it is better to keep this weapon. It may be useful in the near future. But will you be capable of using it when the time will come? You quickly dissipate your doubts and hide the knife at your fingertips. Now that it is in a safe place, you quickly join the others and tell Johan that nothing is wrong. The latter seems to be staring into your soul with his dark eyes, but he does not protest.

You decide to show the knife to your companions.

You have no reason to hide it. Therefore, you prefer showing your new toy to the others. Johan inspects the weapon thoroughly.

"Even if I don't like it, this knife could be useful."

You all nod. You now need to choose who is going to keep this object. Benjamin then tells you that he has already had several self-defence lessons. You all think it is more cautious to give him the knife instead of letting a newbie playing with it and trying to be a superhero. Whether you agree or not does not change anything, the strong man has the knife from now on.

"You're gonna protect me Ben, aren't you?" asks Jade with a sweet voice while frantically fluttering her eyelashes.

You roll your eyes as the young woman literally glues herself to her new bodyguard. The latter is very happy that the pretty brunette finally gives him attention. What a great actress!

You eventually arrive at a huge and deep ravine. The only way to cross it: a very frail wooden bridge, half destroyed. You know that your chances of survival have drastically decreased only by looking at it. Jade clearly refuses to cross the ravine, and Benjamin prefers not trying, as his muscles also make him heavier.

"How about Y/N?"

She already is unbearable, but she is also targeting you! Johan seems ready to help you getting out of this bad situation and wants to take your place, but there is no way you are going to chicken out. Even if you do not like the idea of being a guinea pig to test the solidity of a frail bridge. Gathering all your courage, you cautiously walk on what could sign your own death warrant.

"Keep going Y/N, you're almost there!" says Benjamin, encouraging you.

"If you could go a little faster..." nags Jade.

"Don't hurry," interrupts Johan. "You got this!"

The two men's encouragements help you moving forward and ignoring the creaking wooden boards under your feet. You eventually reach the end of the bridge, safe and sound. As soon as you are safe, the bridge collapses behind you. You are luckier than you thought! Well... if we forget the fact that you are now all alone. Johan shouts his instructions to you.

"We'll find a way to join you, don't worry. Keep exploring your surroundings, you'll maybe find a way out or a way to call the authorities!"

He is right. You are not going to stay here, motionless, while waiting for them. You might as well be useful. You tell your friends goodbye and take a deep breath, before going into the unknown...
