You use your knife.
What a great idea to have kept that weapon. You immediately feel less vulnerable against the arachnid. You quickly arm yourself and mentally prepare for the confrontation.
The spider slows down. It has probably felt the danger. From now on, you know that you had better not make any mistakes. Its predator instinct is clearly more developed than yours, so you will have to be fully focused. You are very tensed, but you sure want to win this fight.
Now. While the beast is jumping towards you, fangs out, you dodge it by side jumping. This was a close shave! But you have no time to waste, you have to move quick and take advantage of the fact that the spider is confused by your action. You rush to it while holding your knife. You grasp the weapon and stab its abdomen with all the strength you are capable of. The spider heavily falls on the ground with a thud. Its long hairy legs are curled up, some of them miserably hanging loosely.
This sight makes you shudder a little bit. You are now conscious of how easy it is to take something's or... someone's life. You are still remembering the sensation of the knife piercing the carapace, tissues, organs of the beast. You vigorously shake your head in order to come back to reality. Now is not the time to give up. Besides, you cannot go back in time.
You stand up, still a little bit dizzy, but also relieved to be alive. You passed the test. While facing the door, you frown and clenched your fists with determination. It is time to continue your adventure.
