I waited at the bottom of the stairs, looking at my phone since I wasn't allowed to have my watch on. I read the time and it was 6:15 and we had to be at the school by 6:30 the latest. "Marley let's go!" I called out to her.
"I'm coming I'm comin'!" She yelled back. I turned around and started to walk in place. Then finally I heard the footsteps of my sister coming down the stairs.
"Geez how lo-" I was cut off when I saw how beautiful my sister looked. She was wearing an all black dress that cut just above her knees and her blonde hair reaching a little past her shoulders. "You look stunning!"
"Thank you." Marley said to me sweetly. Once she reached the bottom of the stairs I pulled her into hug which she gladly accepted. "You look handsome by the way."
I kissed her on the cheek and thanked her for the compliment. "Mom and dad are going to think you look stunning as well."
"Eh I don't know if dad will let me wear this." We both laughed because it was true. Our dad was really over protective of Marley, especially in what she wears and where she goes.
We both walked out of the house and saw our mom in the car while our dad was leaning on the hood. His eyes opened up when he saw my sister.
"Honey you look beautiful!" For the next few minutes out parents commented on how we looked and wished us the best of luck at our concert. Marley was in the choir while I was in the band.
Once we reached the school I kissed my sister on the cheek and we went our separate ways.
As I entered the band room my friends swarmed me, everyone was a bit nervous about this concert since we were planning do to something that no other band has done.
I grabbed my instrument and stood next to my friend Zack as he was putting his instrument together.
"Hey man." I said as I elbowed him in the ribs.
"Hey bud," Zack said as he licked his reed. "are you going to ask out Julia tonight?"
I chuckled as his question. "Yes actually, I am planning to." I responded but then I saw Julia making her way towards us. "Now shut the hell up."
"Hey boys," Julia said as she smiled that one in a million smile. "your instruments okay?"
"Yeah." I said. Then Zack responded saying yes too and Julia started to walk away, but she called my name.
I looked to where she was and went over to her. "What's up?" I asked.
"Can you meet me after the concert?" She asked.
"Yeah absolutely. Where exactly though?" I responded. I could feel my heart pumping faster and faster, I just prayed she didn't hear it.
"Just come back to the band room." Julia winked at me and walked away to check the other instruments. I glanced over at Zack who had a mischievous grin on.
"Swear to God Zack!" I shot at him.
"I'm not sayin' anything but I know something went down between you two." He smirked at me.
"Just concentrate on warming up. I'm gonna head outside and get some fresh air." I placed my instrument on the ground and made my way outside.
Once I passed the doorway I walked all the way to the bottom of the hill that the school rested on. My thoughts drifted to what Julia could possibly want, it made me happy that se wanted to talk to me, but yet I was anxious. I pushed those thoughts out of my mind and stared as the cars passed in front of me. Everything was so peaceful. The cold breeze that rushed by me and the blissful silence. Then I heard a blood curdling scream. I turned to where I heard it and saw people rushing out of the high school. My body froze in place as I thought what could possibly be happening. Did a bomb go off? Was there a shooter in the building?
I didn't pay any attention as I rushed up the hill as fast as I could. Suddenly I heard a helicopter in the distance, coming closer and closer. As it came into view I started to wave my arms violently, signaling to anyone in the helicopter that there was a problem. They could help especially since it was a military helicopter; I was able to tell by the color and the look of the chopper. Then I noticed that it was coming closer but descending a lot faster than needed. Something then caught my eye, it was smoke. Black smoke was coming from the helicopter, and it wasn't landing, it was crashing.
I took off towards the school once more, running as fast as my clothes allowed me. The sound of the crashing helicopter was nearing me, only making me push my body harder. I finally entered the band room and before I could say anything I heard the heli smashing into the building and then everything went black. Complete utter darkness.
