My head was throbbing with pain as my eyes tried to reopen. I tried to sit up but hit my back on something just on top of me. I rolled over and saw that a wall had collapsed on top of me, only being supported by other pieces of rubble.
I rolled over to my stomach and started to look for a way out, then I saw a little glimpse of light. Hopefully enough for me to squeeze through. So I started to army crawl, making sure I wouldn't hit any if the rubble supporting the collapsed wall. Eventually I reached the crevice and slipped my way through.
"Oh my God..." I looked at the scene in front of me and was terrified. The entire band room was destroyed. Chairs were flipped over, blood smeared across the far wall, and even two people lying on the ground. They were torn up, revealing their muscles and intestines. I felt bile raising up in my throat. I forced it back down and kept surveying the destruction.
The two people had a pool of blood that had formed around them and a giant hole in their foreheads. I slowly turned around and saw the crashed helicopter, I was still surprised I wasn't killed by it. Then right on que, my head started to throb. It felt as if my eyes were about to pop out of my head. I crumpled down to the ground and placed my hand on my head, my eyes threatening to close and trap me into a deep sleep.
"AHHHH!" That scream woke me back up and looked towards the direction where the sound came from. I stood up and walked to the band room door and peered through the window, looking out into the hallway. The lights were flickering and I couldn't see anyone, only more destruction.
I slowly opened the door and looked to my right and left. Towards the right there was another body lying on the ground. More torn up and blood smearing the area all around it. I could even smell the stench of the body. "Oh my," I placed my hand on my nose to keep the repulsing smell away as it hit me full force.
I now looked over to my left, this part of the hallway was longer and darker, with only one light. That was flickering. As the light kept on blinking I could see a person, walking towards the right.
"Hey! Hey you!" The person kept on walking and out of my sight. I slowly and very quietly walked towards the direction of that person. Part of me told me not to follow, the other half told me to do it. So I listened to the other half. As I creeped to towards the intersection of the hallways I peeked around the corner and saw the girl who walked by. It was the person who had walked by before and probably the person who screamed.
The lights were still flickering so I couldn't really tell if she was okay or not. "Hey!" I paused for a slight second. "Hey girl are you okay?" There was a growling sound that originated from where the girl was standing. I walked away from the corner and cautiously made my way towards her. "Are you alright miss?" When she turned around my heart jumped up into my throat.
Half of her face was torn off, revealing bone and dried blood. Her clouded eyes darting all over the place as they finally trained on me. As I kept looking her over, I could see tendons handing out of her legs, completely torn apart and hang loosely. She started to snap her teeth together and growled at me, then she began to make her way towards me.
As she kept stumbling towards me I took off running back to the band room, not wanting to be anywhere near that thing. Just as I took of running the creature started to pick up it's pace into a fast jog, still growling and snapping at me. I reached the band room door and started to push on the handle, yet it wouldn't budge. "Come on dammit!" The creature was a few feet away from me, now I had to take it on.
It swung it's arm at me with such force I could hear muscles tearing. I ducked under it and kicked it's leg. Causing it to fall to it's knees. The creature then lunged itself at me, making me collapse onto my back. I started to scramble back up and run but it had my ankle. I kicked, what was a girl, in the face. I could even feel whatever was left of her nose break. I rushed back to the door but was immediately pulled back by my shirt. The creature was snapping at me, sending blood from its mouth around me. I kept keeping my head back away from the discolored teeth, then with much hesitation I swung my hand into its face.
The creature tumbled over but for only a second, but that's all I needed. Adrenaline pumping through my body I ran full force at the creature and took it by it's collar. I threw it at the wall to my left and heard bone crack as it's head made contact and a bit of blood came out. I rushed over to the door once more and then it hit me. The door was a pull, not a push.
So I pulled open the door and closed it as fast as I could. Then instantaneously the creature slammed it's body at the door and looked through the little window. Still growling and snapping. The door kept moving towards me, but would not open, it seems that I'm as dumb as the thing in front of me.
"I'm so f***ing stupid." I shook my head and then racked my head for what I should do next. I looked over at the helicopter and a thought hit me.
I climbed the rubble as I went to the destroyed chopper. I pushed open the door with great effort, it felt as if it hasn't been opened in days, but that couldn't be possible. I carefully made my way towards the cockpit, the helicopter creaking with every step I took. As I opened the cockpit door a stench unlike anything other punched me right in the face. I covered my face with my shirt and looked at what caused such an awful smell.
The pilot of the chopper was now lying over the dashboard. Blood was covering the entire front windshield and his helmet had been tossed to the side which revealed a giant hole in the side of his head. I tried to look away from the awful scene, but it was just to hard. I felt like my body wouldn't let me move, as if it wanted me to see what happened. Yet I still couldn't figure out why this pilot took his life. I knew it was no killer since the gun was still in his hand.
I edged closer to the deceased with my shirt covering my nose and started to pry open his fingers. I felt awful for disturbing the dead, but I needed that gun. As his gripped released the gun, I took it. I wiped away the blood on the gun on my pants and gripped it with my left hand.
I left the cockpit and took a deep breath of fresh air. I looked at the outside through the destroyed wall, night was about to fall as the sun was disappearing behind the trees. The sky was painted in blood red as night threatened to take over. Then I took a glance at the door where the creature was, and then I glanced at my pistol. Could I really kill someone? No. Definitely not. I made sure that the H&K pistol had it's safety on and tucked it in my pants. As I started to walk outside I saw an Osprey Suppressor on the ground. I bent over and took it, then placing it in my pocket.
Now it was my time to make my next move. Yet I was clueless and night was falling. Something also told me that it wasn't alone, there are probably many more of those things around here. I closed my eyes and started to think. My decisions now might determine if I live, or die.
