A LITTLE WHILE LATER

THE TWO groups stood nervously backstage. Their outfits had been put on, the gems dazzling beneath the harsh lights. Sunny was stretching her limbs as Soojin warmed her vocal chords. Makeup was finishing up on the boys, Jin and Taehyung working on their harmonies while Jungkook stretched across from Sunny. "Are you nervous, noona?" he asked, smirking over at the girl. She lifted her arms over her head for a moment, her straight hair slipping off of her shoulders and down her back. "A little bit," she answered truthfully. She lifted her foot and shoved his with the toe of her boots, smiling. "Are you, golden maknae?" He scoffed, though he truly was. Performing always made him nervous, yet he knew that he would succeed with his friends by his side. "Nah. Like you said, I'm golden!"

Before Sunny could pinch the boy's side, a tall figure crept up behind her. His arms wound around her waist, bringing her flush against him. His plump lips pressed a chaste kiss to her head before his chin rested there. "Are you picking on my girlfriend, Guk?" Namjoon asked jokingly, his younger member rolling his eyes. "Sometimes I can't choose who the grossest couple is. You two are definitely winning now with Eunnie—" Sunny slapped her hand over the boy's mouth, ignoring the slick softness of his lips. She had smeared his vaseline, lip gloss. "Are you insane? Jimin could hear you!" she scolded the boy. He glanced toward the slightly older Park twin at the makeup table, his eyes closed.

Jungkook proceeded to mumble against her palm, his eyes blankly staring back into her narrowed gaze. With a grimace she pulled back her hand. "We're all taking it hard; we all miss her. He shouldn't be such a baby." Jungkook immediately yelped after Sunny pinched his arm. "Oh, don't be a baby. I barely touched you," she teased. Namjoon's hand slid over her waist before his touch disappeared. "You're all on in five!" the stage hand shouted for the groups to hear. "Good luck, boys," she breathed out. Jungkook accepted her hug almost immediately, his chin resting on her shoulder. "You too, noona. You'll do great." She pressed a chaste kiss to his temple before they parted, her arms moving to encase an approaching Hoseok.

The past two years had been difficult. They had video chatted with their maknae, and it usually satisfied their need to see her. Yet it was moments like this, where they missed her singing alongside them and dancing to their music, all smiles and radiating happiness. Sunny barely processed the change of arms she had entered and exited, lastly finding herself wrapping her arms around her brother with a content sigh. The twins had been inseparable ever since her departure. They went out together. They stayed up late at nights when Jimin missed her the most, eating their favorite snacks and watching old fan cams of the maknae before he would fall asleep with his head in her lap. She breathed in the sweet scent of his perfume, making sure to keep her makeup from smearing on his outfit. "I love you, Jiminssi," she whispered.
