That Saturday was the first weekend of October. It was the day of the charity ball for breast cancer awareness. Bucky was in his bathroom fixing his bow tie then sprayed on some cologne.
Maxie was at her house adding some blush pink lipstick. She came out of the bathroom to slip on her heels. "Maxine!" Sean yelled
"Im coming daddy." She said as she quickly shoved her phone and lipstick in her clutch.
She made her way down the stairs. He gave her jewelry to her she went into her mom's bathroom to put it on. They all got into the town car and headed to the city.
Bucky walked into the ballroom. He dropped his donation check in the box. He found the bar and ordered a scotch. Once he had his glass he found his friends/colleagues.
"I Heard It Through The Grapevine" was being played by the band. Bucky was checking his email when Sam hit his shoulder. "He's got some major balls." Sam said
"Who?" Bucky said as he answered the email. He looked up to see the Brinkleys.
"20 grand on his wife and daughter." Steve said
Natasha said "Well she does have to keep up with appearances."
"True..got to paint the pretty picture." Bucky said
Rebecca came in with her husband. "Hey what are we talking about?" She said
"Hey Becca! Its good to see you out of scrubs" Natasha said as she hugged her.
"Good to see you Nat. You all remember my husband Martin Carter." She said
"Good to see you Martin." Steve said
After the first hour of the ball and the dinner portion was over. Bucky walked over to where the Brinkley's were.
"Good evening Sean." Bucky said
"James.." Sean said
"Hi Im James Barnes. Ive been working with your husband the last three months." Bucky said to Sean's wife.
"Katherine Brinkley this is our daughter Maxine." Katherine said
"Nice to meet you both. May I dance with your daughter? Im an excellent ballroom dancer." Bucky said with a smile.
"Of course..she knows how to ballroom dance too." Katherine said
"Kate.." Sean whispered.
Bucky lead her out they started to dance to "Rockin Robin."
"What the hell is he doing?" Sam said
"Oh dad would be proud. He taught James how to ballroom dance. He is doing a jive." Rebecca said as she sipped her drink.
"Is he drunk?" Steve said as Bucky spun her then dipped her.
"That's Mr Brinkley's daughter. He is not happy." Scott said
They started to dance "I Can't Help Myself." Bucky lead her all over the floor as they danced.
Katherine looked at Sean. "See its fine its just dancing. Now she isnt over here like a knot on the log." She said
"He is 32 and she is 17." Sean said
"They are fine." Katherine said as she went to talk to another wife.
Bucky kept his glass in his hand as they danced to "Kokomo" by the beach boys.
"Dude look at the looks Sean is cutting them. I dont blame him though if someone like him was grinding all over my 17 year old daughter." Sam said
"He is not grinding. I know how Barnes grinds me and Wanda both know." Natasha said
"Shush. You know how much me and Barton hate when its brought up that he popped both of you." Steve said
Bucky slid his hands down over her ass. "Mm so gorgeous." as they began to dance to "Ain't no Sunshine." He realized Sean was distracted he pressed a small kiss to her lips.
He pulled her with him to the bar to get a refill. They continued to dance till around 11PM. He whispered in her ear "Come with me baby...I wanna get out of here with you."
She looked up at him. "They aren't looking baby " he whispered.
"Okay." She whispered
She grabbed her clutch and they disappeared into the dark. None of Bucky's friends noticed he left either.
"Where to Mr Barnes?" His driver said
"My office.." Bucky said as he undid his bow tie and top 3 buttons.
