MacCready and I had just followed Piper through the gate when a round man in a beige suit with a bowler hat approached us looking rather irritated.

"Piper! Who let you back inside! I told Sullivan to keep that gate shut!"

His face was going red, and his fists shook at his side's as he glared at Piper.

" you devious, rubble- rousing slander! The level of dishonesty in that paper of yours! I'll have that printer scrapped for parts!"

MacCready stiffened beside me.

Piper rolled her eyes and waved her hands,

"Ohhh, that a statement Mr McDoungh? 'Tyrant mayor shuts down the press!'"

She scoffed and then set her sights on me.

"Why don't we ask the newcomer? You support the news? Cause the mayor threatened to throw free speech in the dump!"

I shrugged,

"Always believed in freedom of the press..."

Honestly I didn't know what to say,

The mayor finally acknowledged me,

"Oh, I didn't mean to bring you into this argument! No no no... You look like diamond city material!"

The mayor spread out his arms almost hitting MacCready,

"Welcome to the great jewel of the commonwealth! Safe, happy. a fine place to come spend your money and settle down. You two make a fine couple, not that I ever Excpected MacCready to ever end up with someone!"

I shook my head and MacCready stared down at his boots, his teeth grinding.

"We- we're not together, atleast not like that."

I explained,

"Yeah I'm just making sure they dont get killed."

I shot MacCready a look then turned back to the mayor,

"Oh yes of course, but please don't let this muckracker tell you otherwise alright?"

I crossed my arms,

"What are you two arguing about anyway?"

Piper chuckled bitterly,

"What do you think? Print lies and everyone's happy, but if you print the truth..."

McDoungh cleared his throat and waved to turn my attention back to him,

"Now was there anything specific you came to our city for?"

There was a lump in my throat,

"...I'm looking for someone..."

McDoungh looked at me concerned,

"Trying to find someone, who?"

"My baby boy, Shaun. He's less then a year old."

MacCready's eyes were on me, as was everyone else's as I tried to stop my voice shaking.

"A baby? Oh man..."

Piper turned to McDoungh,

"You hear that McDoungh? Is Diamond city really just gonna stand by while a parent searches for their missing son all on their own?"

McDoungh waved a dismissive hand at Piper and turned to me,

"Don't listen to her! While I'm afraid our security team can't follow every case that comes through, I'm confident you'll find someone who can help you."
