23. Back In a Flash

(Y/N) POV

After my long discussions with Fathe- I mean Shaun,

I got my pip-boy updated by one of the scientists and zipped back to the surface,

I had spawned just outside the CIT building which made sense, since the Institute was right underneath it.

But now I just have to walk all the way back fo Sanctuary, luckily it was early morning,

I guess I had been down in the Institute all night.

I took a deep breath and started walking,

Man without RJ these long walks were lonely...

I finally got back to Sanctuary just before the sun set,

"...(Y/N)? OMG ITS MISS (Y/N)! PRESTON! MACCREADY!"

Sturges came running from the middle yellow house he was working on, dropping his hammer and piece of metal he was nailing up,

Hs sprinted towards me,

"Miss (Y/N)! Yall alright?"

I nodded stifling a chuckle at how out of breath he was,

"(Y/N)!"

Preston came rocketing from the back of Sanctuary,

"You're back!"

And right behind him, hot on his heels was RJ!

"(Y/N)!"

He shoved past the other two men to come crashing at me,

"You're here! You're ok!"

I laughed at RJ hugging the life out of me,

"You're alive!"

"I wont be for much longer if you keep squeezing the life out of me!"

I told him, he stepped back with a chuckle but still rested one of his arms around my waist,

"I'm glad you're back..."

He said to me his eyes soft

"So am I."

I said,

I quickly gave Sturges and Preston both tight hugs and the three boys lead me back to my house,

We all sat down in the lounge.

"So what happened?"

Sturges finally broke the silence,

"Yes, did you find your son?"

Preston asked,

RJ placed a hand ontop of mine,

"...I did."

"Well that's great news! Isnt it?"

Preston asked with a smile that quickly faded when he saw my expression,

"Well no- its a- it's very complicated..."

"What happened?"

RJ asked quietly,

I told them everything,

From the moment I plugged in the holotape to Shaun calling me,

To the Child Shaun Synth and then to Father or the real Shaun explaining he was the leader of the Institute,

I talked about how he looked just like Nate and how he showed me around the place, telling me it was humanity's last hope.

And then I finished off with the part that I was "working" with the institute on a trial run, just to gather information with them.
