My Senpai (Charlie Pinefield x reader)

This may be a little different then what you had in mind. I hope you like it though.

I was walking around the library with my girl group. We were just browsing until one of them giggles and points somewhere beside us. I turn my head to see Charlie Pinefield sitting by himself. Not one of his brothers in sight. "He's an upperclassman right?" I ask and my group nods with giggles "He's such a nerd. So quiet." One of them says and I hum before they start walking over to him. I sigh but follow them.

"Heyyy Charlie~" they greet and he jumps while slamming his notebook shut. Big mistake. "ooh~ whatcha got there?~" the notebook was yanked away right when I made my way over. "Wait please don't-" "oh my god. Really? He draws comics." They all laugh but I stay silent as I look at the notebook. I hum as I look over the comic he was working on and was surprised.

I remain silent as the girls tease the upperclassman until one of them took out a pen. "Let's add a few drawings of our own." Charlie gains a look of fear but before the pen could touch the paper I grip her shoulder "that's enough." I say lowly and yank the notebook out of their hands. "Y/n-" I point for them to leave and they look at each other before they shrug.

I turn to Charlie and he looks at me hopefully. I lift the notebook and look over his work. "So you're an upperclassman right?" I ask and he nods "yeah..why?" He asks and I turn to him with a smile. "That would make you my senpai then." I say and he hums "um..Can I have my notebook back?" He asks and I hum "this notebook?" I ask holding it up and he nods before reaching for it. I pull it back and toss it to the floor.

"Honestly from what I saw. The comic lacks a good plot."

I saw his face drop slightly before he leans down to pick the notebook up. I turn on my heel and left.

From that point on I would continually pick on Charlie and point out flaws in his comics. I would notice that he would correct the mistakes and flaws that I found. So in the long run I was helping him out. It was another day where I was walking through the park and I saw Charlie sitting at one of the park picnic tables.

I walk up behind him and smack the back of his head. "Hey dork!" I say and he jumps before shutting his notebook. "You still drawing the comic? Why?" I ask and he glances away "Can you just leave me alone?" He asks softly and I hum "Nah. I'm not gonna do that." I say before snatching the notebook from him. His breath hitches and he tries to get it back but I force him to sit back down.

I hold him in place as I look over what he was working on. "Jeez. This is so cheesy." I say and he looks down his bangs falling in front of his eyes "I didn't even think you could make a romance comic so cheesy and cliche. It's almost gross how cliche it is. I mean seriously Charlie why-" I cut off with a hum when I hear a sniff. I turn my head and tilt my head to get a look at his face.

My eyes widen when I saw tears roll down his face.

I could feel my heart break and I glance at the notebook then back at him. I close the book and set it down on the table. "Uh..I'm sorry...I didn't..I didn't think..I didn't mean to make you cry...sorry again." I say softly and walk away from him. With a hand on my chest. My heart was hurting so much right now. I have never felt this bad in my life.

The next day I was in the lunchroom poking at my food. I still felt terrible. I really didn't know that I was making him so upset. I guess I was being kind of mean. I lift my head when I hear someone sit next to me. I was surprised to see Charlie and I was even more surprised that he smiled at me.

"Hey." He says and I shook of the surprised look "Hey?" He smiles and pushes his notebook over to me. "I finished it...Sorry if I worried you yesterday but I was going through a lot and I was trying to calm down...you just caught me at a bad time." He says and I glance at the notebook before opening it to look at it.

He watches me and I could tell he wanted my opinion. I smile softly and close the notebook "other than a small grammar error on the last page..it's perfect." I say and he smiles "..Charlie...Can we start over?" I ask and he nods before extending his hand "Hello I'm Charlie." He says and I giggle softly before shaking his hand. "I'm y/n. I hope we can be good friends."

I guess I'm lucky that Charlie is so forgiving because now my senpai is my best friend.
