San
**Hey everybody! Let me just put a little disclaimer up here for what this book is going to contain. I attend a Catholic school in America, which is what inspired me to write this book, but I exaggerate a lot. You are able to be any religion, any sexuality, from any background, etc. For me, and it is different for every school I presume, my theology classes have a unit on homosexuality in which they are quite harsh in their teachings, it is very off putting and I just want to say it's uncomfortable for the friends at my school who are gay. You will not get reprimanded, expelled, punished, anything for being gay, so don't let that deter you from a Catholic education if you were thinking about attending one.
Side note, if you are Catholic, I am Jewish turned agnostic but I have learned a lot of about Christianity all my years of high school and have gotten the top grades in my theology class. I am disregarding most of that for this book. It's fiction, and frankly I am tired of theology class so this whole book disrespects Catholicism like crazy and I am sorry if that offends you. I have my own opinions but I am solely reflecting the opinions of the characters in the story, I do hope you enjoy.
Also if any of y'all want to ask questions about Catholic schools and what they are like, feel free to ask me. I truly think a Catholic education is smart because too many people now days are living ignorant of religion simply because they don't believe in God. Trust me, learning about religion will make you a much more educated person readily equipped to handle the world. My school also emphasis all religions in my world religion class, which is honestly my favorite part**
I open the door to the depressing view of uniformed high school students, tired and stressed from the hard Catholic education they endure every week day. I scowl at my classmates who look so tired, the life sucked out of them. Yet here I stand more excited for today than any other day. Today I get to give my first speech as the senior class president, and I can't wait.
As I walk through the small hallways, people glare at my smile and my perfectly styled hair, and what can I say, I don't blame them for being jealous. If only they tried when they got ready in the morning I thought as I trudged through the gross halls until I made it inside my math class. Eager and ready to learn...at least somewhat.
I am greeted by some of my classmates and the teacher Professor Kim tells me to sit down. I sit down next to my good friend Mingi, and he steals a glance at me before rolling his eyes.
"You're such a try hard you know that San?" His face wears an exasperated expression.
"Today is a big day, and I have a reputation to withhold." I whisper the last part and Mingi laughs at me before turning back to look at the white board.
"Be glad I don't spill all of your secrets." He winks at me and then the class starts, and I find myself unable to respond to the threatening remark. The math class then seems long and boring and I drift off to stare out the window, but something catches my eye first. It is Hongjoong who sits diagonal from me, and is frankly the only student I see who actually cleans up in the morning, and I don't know, tries, besides myself of course. I quickly snap myself out of it and pinch myself hard in order to jerk some tears to keep my mind away from the thoughts that contaminate it. Guys are hot. My brain tells me, and I try to throw it out the window along with any other bad thoughts. Today is too important for this shit. I repeat that in my head until the bell rings, and I happily emerge from the janky old desk.
