Y/N's P.O.V.

The next day, I make the decision of inviting Lauren over for lunch and then telling her how I feel. My mom told me she was going out to get coffee with a friend which meant there would be no interruptions from her. I hear my phone buzz signifying Lauren has texted me.

Lady 🧡☕️: So what time do you want me to come over?
You: Whenever you can, I know you lead a very busy life
Lady 🧡☕️: 🙄
Lady 🧡☕️: I'll be over in ten
You: See you soon, lady

I smile as I put my phone down and my cat jumps on the couch to keep me company. I stroke the soft fur on her back and she lies down next to me. I allow my cat to distract me so I don't end up getting impatient. A nervous knot was starting to form in my stomach at the thought of seeing Lauren and I was t sure why. Okay, maybe it was because of what I was going to do but I can't be too sure.

I hear a knock on the door and I take a deep breath before walking over and opening it. Lauren stands there wearing a black 'Sad Girls Club' shirt and black jeans. I smile as she pulls me into a quick hug. She pulls away and I step aside to let her in.

"You really shouldn't have worn black," I say.

Lauren gives me a curious look and I point at the cat napping on the couch. "Cat hair and black clothes don't mix."

"I forgot you have a cat," she says. She gives my cat a slight glare as she sits on the other side of the couch.

"I still can't believe you don't like cats," I say as I take a seat next to her. "But trust me Y/C/N won't bother you, I bet you'll love her by the end of today."

"I doubt that but I won't ruin your dreams," Lauren says. "As long as your cat stays over there we'll be fine."

"Oh come one you can't tell me my cat isn't cute as heck," I say looking over at the sleeping cutie.

"No comment," Lauren mumbles.

I look over the the cutie next to me and glare. "You really are something special, Lauren Cimorelli."

"Good special or bad special?" she asks.

"I don't think there's a bad special, Laur, but if there was you definitely wouldn't be the definition of it."

Lauren rolls her eyes but I notice the way her face turns a light shade of pink and the small smile on her face. "I think you're the special one here, Y/N."

"Are you complimenting me or not? I can't tell."

She shrugs. "That's up to you."

"Then I'll take it as a compliment. A weird compliment but a compliment nonetheless."

"Are you really that desperate for a compliment?" She asks, eyebrow raised.

"Don't judge me, lady. It's not my fault there's not much to compliment."

"Oh shush." Lauren rolls her eyes at me. "Now you're just fishing for compliments."

"Hate to break it to you, Laur but no one is fishing here. There's no water nearby," I reply with a goofy grin.

"I swear you're worse than Lisa sometimes, Y/N."

"Okay now I'm offended," I say, crossing my arms. "Take that back right now, Lauren Cimorelli."

"I will do what I please, Y/N Y/L/N."

I raise an eyebrow in response. "Oh?"

She smacks my arm. "Stop it."

"Hey, that hurt," I mumble. "Don't get mad at me you're the one who said it like that."

"Like what? Like a normal person?"

"Yeah sure, we'll go with that."

She rolls her eyes and I notice the way the sun shining through the window made her eyes look even more mesmerizing than usual. I can't help it as my eyes look over her features in this lighting. She looks absolutely mesmerizing.

"You're staring again, dork," Lauren says softly.

"Well you can't really blame me, lady."

She looks down at her hands, a blush making its way onto her cheeks. I poke her side and she looks at me again. I move a stray piece of hair behind her ear before cupping her face with my hand. She looks at me, her eyes slowly making their way down to my lips.

This is the third time Lauren and I have almost kissed and I am not about to have something interrupt us again.

"What are you doing?" she asks, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Something I've been dying to do," I reply.

I lean forward slowly, giving Lauren enough to time to pull away if she wanted to. She doesn't move away instead, she surprises the heck out of me and leans in the rest of the way, connecting our lips.
