   JULY, 2011.

Miranda brings a plate of food for her mother's visitor. It was a lazy afternoon and all she wanted to do was sleep.

"your daughter is all grown up."
Says the slightly plump lady sitting across from her mother.

"Miranda come here.
"
She obeys.

"she just finished primary. We are just waiting for the results."
Miranda's stomach churns.
She is nervous about the results
.

The lady seems impressed.

"I heard that the results will be out tomorrow."
She says.
Her heart pumps rapidly.
"I'm sure she will do fine."
She adds.

"she should after all that we spent to give her an education."

The lady takes a bite of her food.

Miranda leaves to her room. All plans of sleep completely lost. 'Tomorrow,' she thought nervously.

She then grabbed her phone and dialed Jasmine's number.
" hello. "
Jasmine picks the phone.

" did you hear the news?"
She says completely forgetting her greetings.

"what news."
Jasmine replies.

"the results are out tomorrow."
Jasmine is quiet for a while.

"you cannot be serious.
Tomorrow is too soon."
She says.
"best believe it, I heard it from my mom's friend who is a teacher and marks the exam as well."
She replies.
"well. Hold your fingers together and hope we go to the same school."
She says.
"already did."

*

"I still can't believe we are not in the same school."
Says Jasmine.
"hey, at least you get to go to an international school like you wanted."
Miranda tells her.
"it still would have been better with you around." she sulks.
"don't be sad, if you were then I am practically depressed."

Miranda let's out a sigh.
"when is he going?"
Jasmine asks.
"next week."

"but he said he'd write all the time."
Jasmine adds.

"yeah. I will still miss him though ."
She let's out another sigh.

Zayn, true to his words had been called to an international school.
He was not even worried when the results were out. He knew whether they would be good or bad, he would still go to Johnston high school .

It was a custom for the children of Kuria household.
His two brothers before him had gone there and so did his older sister.
He had no problem with it though, it was a great school.

What really made him sad was that he was leaving Miranda.

*

"you will write all the time right?" Miranda said through the phone.

"always."
Replied Zayn.

Zayn was leaving today.

"I have to go,"
He said.

"and one more thing,
I love you."
Said Miranda and she hung up.

*

The first week of school was miserable for Zayn.
The food was amazing and all, but it was nothing close to home.
The other boys were mean, classes were ridiculously early, there was so much work to do but most importantly he missed Miranda.

He had not gotten a chance to write.

He wondered what she would be doing then, and then  her words echoed in his mind,
"I love you."
He smiled. This words gave him the strength to deal with it all.
To know that at mid term, he would see her.

"I love you to."

He said under his breath.
He really did love her but what he did not know was that this feeling would only be temporary.
