August 12th, 2017.
Nairobi.

Miranda stood at the hall. People had already started arriving as early as 10.
She too had gotten there early enough to welcome them.
An elderly man got in and she escorted him to a seat.
She looked at her speech again. She was nervous,
"should I really start it off like this?"
She had read it over and over again since morning and each time she thought she had made a mistake.

"don't stress yourself out, I'm sure you will do fine."
Said Julie.
"what are you doing here.?"
Miranda asked surprised to see her.
"well, I would not miss your grand speech now would I?"
Miranda felt so thankful that she threw her arms around her.
"you are the best."
She said.

Soon, everyone had arrived.
She sat in her chair restlessly. Any minute now, John Dempsy kiriungi would walk write through the door and she had no idea what she would say to him.

She had thought of that moment over and over again and now it was just a few minutes till she could meet him.
She looked at her friend who smiled at her.

The people suddenly started clapping and she knew he had arrived.
Right then a middle aged man got in, accompanied by a few men and women that she did not bother to look at.

Before she knew it, she was shaking his hand and showing him to his seat.

A few more people were to talk before her speech. When she sat down she could not believe that she had finally met him, the author whose books she had adored since she was a child.

As many more people talked she couldn't help but look at her speech from time to time.
"and now Miranda Wanga who is a student of our school and the vice president shall say a few words and welcome our guests."

Said one of John's men.

Zayn felt his feet get cold as he stood outside.
His mom would not stop calling and asking if everything was fine.
" everything is fine. We have just arrived mum. And he will be called any minute now."
He said.
" all right darling. Stand by his side perfectly."
She hang up.

Zayn could not understand the sudden change in weather. It had been sunny moments before they arrived and now clouds were forming and it was drizzling.
He went back inside.

Miranda's eyes searched for Julie's in the crowd.
When she saw her, she felt slightly at ease.

She looked outside it was getting cold.

"it is an honour Mr James to have been chosen to represent this school as one of its students and as the vice president.
For those who may not know me, as Mr Ben has said, I am Miranda Wanga.
A third year.

I have been reading John Kiriungis books since I was a child. And each time I read I would find myself laughing so hard as Mr John surely is a funny man as portrayed in his books.

'what joy does a man find in living if not by making his neighbour's happy.'

Is..... what he.... Ummm.... says in one of his books. "

She stopped for a while and she felt her heart stop for a minute
She could not believe her eyes. At the back dressed in a suit, with beautiful brown eyes and a sharp jaw.
Was" Zayn. "

She said.

Everyone shifted in their seats, some looking behind.

Zayn smiled at her.

"..... umm sorry about that,
And I completely agree. He has made me laugh on so many days. And now he is back.
And I have to say Mr John that I am looking forward to more books from you.
We all are.
Thank you."
The people applauded her as she went back to her chair.
Her eyes darting back to Zayn.

She could not believe how good he looked.
He was surprisingly still the same in some ways.
He smiled the same, like a million rays of sun.
He still had those beautiful brown eyes only now they looked much better.
He seemed to have some heavy eye lids but he still looked radiant.

And she suddenly felt angry.
Remembering what he had done to her so many years back.

"I really liked your speech Miranda."
Said John as he shook her hand.
She could hardly contain her joy.
"thank you.
And if you don't mind me saying I am a huge fun of your work. And I am  an aspiring author. I have written a book which still remains  unpublished and I would be so honored if you could take a look at them."
She handed them to him.
"I don't normally do this."
He said.
"but give them to my assistant and I will take a look at it."
He left.
"thank you sir."
The assistant seemed to be on the phone and gestured toZayn to take them.

"hey,"
He said.
"hi."
She had had so much to say and yet she said close to nothing.
"you look good."
He said and she felt all her anger subside.
"thank you. You look good too."
She said.
"good job up there, you were amazing. I always knew you would be."
He said.
She felt the urge to cry.
She had not thought she ever would especially not like this.
"thank you. Do you know Mr. John?"
She asked desperate to change the subject.
"my mum does and she asked me to accompany him since she is not around."

They were silent for a while.
"babe."
She heard some one calling and Zayn giving an instant reply.

A beautiful girl came rushing in,
"you ready to go?"
She said and her heart sank.

"this is Miranda."
She said.
"nice to meet you, nice work."
She said.
"my girlfriend pat."
He said.
"nice to meet you too.
And it was good meeting you again Zayn.
I have to go."
She said.
And left.
Even though she felt like she had so many questions to ask him, she still left.
Even if she knew a little part of her still loved him, she left again like she had done those many years ago.
