37. Amour

The sweetness of his lips faded away as his lips left mine.

As the petrichor was lingering in the thin air I kept on panting. Everything felt oddly disparate.

Though the crystalline drops of water bleared my vision when Jungkook opened his eyes I was mesmerized.

Transparent water was running down his face making his lashes look thicker and more prominent than they had ever been. His eyes were a pulchritudinous shade of acorns, just scintillating enough to shine in the shadows.

Opia.

As he blinked, the beauty was momentarily covered by the shield of his eyelashes.

We were so close.

While Jungkook's eyes focused on mine his hands left my hands and waist as they traveled up towards my face and gently cupped it.

How peculiar this man is.

Under the innumerable driblets of rain and the tenebrous night where it is practically impossible to note the teardrops leaving my eyes Jungkook's warm hands reached out for them and wiped them till there were no more left.

I was left dumbstruck.

"Y/n." He whispered in a low voice. His eyes now dimmed down, almost replicating the opaque clouds. I just scrutinized his drenched face in the strangely pleasant darkness of the night in quietness.

He let out a breath.

And I wish I had stopped him right there.

"I was confused about this all this time, so I never spoke up but now I'm sure of it." He said, his hands never leaving my face.

I frowned, unable to take a hint.

"Y/n I just want to let you know that." Nervousness was lacing every single word that left his mouth.

In the middle of the pitter-patter of the raindrops coming in contact with the earth and the both of us making us saturated Jungkook's low voice echoed everywhere.

And mostly in my heart.

"I like you."

Those three resonant words. It was enough to change my entire world.

I felt multiple emotions in me. It was more like a short roller-coaster ride, in which at times I felt as if I was on the top of the world, luckier than anyone else but the very next second I felt like I was falling down into misery.

Unfortunately, when my senses came back to me my eyes dilated in horror and I stepped away from Jungkook in a flash.

Maybe my sudden reaction wasn't anything like what he expected as he frowned and like pellucid casements his eyes were reflecting the despondency in his heart.
