Allison pov

The week ended.
Everyone was gathered together in the small room awaiting to see who was getting sent to their freedom. Or death.

I held Chloe in front of me making sure not to get separated.

Time seemed to blur and to be honest all I knew was that I had been here for a while.

My hair had grown a tiny bit longer and I had lost weight because sometimes they forgot to feed us, and even when we were fed it wasn't much.

One of the cannibals, who's name was Drew, walked out with a big smile.
" Isn't it an amazing night! Just right for a fight. "

Nobody moved. Everyone looked down at the ground trying not to make eye contact.

"Anyways I bet your all excited to find out who the next competitors are!"
Drew's sickly sweet voice made me wanna punch him in the face.

Chloe tightened her grip around my hand.

I pulled her closer to me, closed my eyes and took a deep breath.

" Ally? " Chloe said quietly while Drew was talking.

I nodded.

" I'm scared. "

I ran my fingers through her hair " don't be, nothing's going to happen to you. I promise. "

"Now who should be allowed the honor of fighting tonight?"

Drew looked around the room, watching and scanning each person slowly.

I hugged Chloe tighter to me. Scared that if I let go they would choose her.

Finally my curiosity took over and I had to look up just a tiny bit.

That was my mistake.

Drew's eyes were locked on mine and his smile grew a tiny bit more.

"You." He pointed in my direction . " Name. "
"Allison." My voice was harsh.

Chloe froze in my arms.
My heart hammered in my chest.

Chloe, along with everyone else, turned to look at me.

Drew nodded " congratulations, you have been chosen. "

I could see the relief in some of the people's faces and pity in others.

I forced my self to act calm. I nodded slowly and started to walk to the doors that led to who knows where. Two muscular guys opened the doors for me.

I started to walk through the doors, only to be stopped when something wrapped around me. Or someone.

Chloe was latched onto me and was slightly crying. " no. Don't leave. "

Drew frowned " grab the kid. "

" Chloe" I said " You need to let go. "

She gripped tighter. " Please, don t leave me, I don't want to be alone again. "

People had reached us and grabbed Chloe, pulling her away.

" Ally! " Chloe said as I was being walked out the room. " Don't die! "

I turned around and smiled, or tried my best to " The day I die is the day the sky stops turning blue. "

But the whole time all that was running through my head was, is that true?
