17-Scavengers

Kirsten pov

For the first time since the zombie apocalypse started I actually got a good nights sleep.It was weird.

"Kiki.Kiki you need to get up."
I groaned"go away. "
A pillow slammed into my face.
I sprang out of the bed and rubbed my face.
"What was that for?!"
Riley shrugged "I told you to get up and you ignored me. Come on Lila wants us to try some of the jobs."

After I stretched and woke up A Little bit more we left to meet Lila.

"Hey guys!" Lila waved to us has we approached the center. "Ready to try some jobs?" We nodded.

The first job we tried was gardening.Miley was the head gardener so she helped describe what we were doing.
I wouldn't say we were bad but not the best.

Next was building,where we meet Bryson,a big dude that seriously needed to get his temper under control.
Riley whispered to me"him and ally are gonna be the best of friends. "
I smiled.Ally also has a short temper.Together her and Bryson could probably start a war.

By the end of the job I had splinters and cuts all over my hands. "No offense but you guys stink at building." Bryson said.

The next job was medics.Riley nailed it,I however did not.Riley was busy fixing my hand from where I had dropped a knife and tried to catch it.Good news was that we meet sausage, a little weenie dog that was used for therapy.

"You know you're not a bad cook." A lady who introduced herself has Emma told me.
Emma was a short pregnant lady in her mind thirties.I smiled"I used to help my mom cook dinner. "Cooking was easy,all you did was take food and mix it with other food.

We learned that they had found another little place with people in it.They made a truce and share supplies and any information they might need.That's what messengers were.They deliver supplies and news.
We also learned that there was only one messenger and that was Jordan.No one could keep up with him since he was like the fastest boy in the world,which is why we would not be messengers.

Riley didn't even want to try being a hunter because she hates killing animals.I was actually kinda excited.I used to go hunting with my family a lot evenin was younger.
From the moment Axel said that I could be a hunter I knew that's what I wanted.

Being a hunter was easy.Kill and hunt.Then when you get back skin and gut the animal,after that we would give the meat to the cooks.

Last job in the list was scavengers.Me and Riley both wanted this job.We were used to scavenging and fighting off zombies.

" the scavenging team goes out every week for about two days and then comes back for supplies.We switch teams so no one gets over worked. "Lila explained to us." the team should be back in a little bit,so just relax for now. "

Me and Riley headed back to the center.
"Man its been a long day." I said sitting down at a picnic table.
Riley chuckled "What job do you want?"

I thought for a moment "Well I was thinking about being a hunter and scavenger.What about you?"

" I like cooking and medics. "

I nodded.Looking over my shoulder I noticed a group of people that I had never seen around before. "I think the scavengers are back."

We walked up to meet five people.One being Lila.The other four I didn't know.
"You must be the new people Lila was talking about"One of them spoke.The guy was tall and had blonde hair.One of the other guys,who had brown hair,looked confused"I thought you said there were three new people."

Riley spoke up"Ally is in the hospital right now being a lazy butt. "She stuck her hand out." My name's Riley and this is Kirsten. "

The blonde guy smiled"My name is hunter. "
"I'm Mike." The brown haired guy answered

"Justin." One of the kids in the back said.

" Phoebe " A high pitched voice cut in.
I looked down and saw a little girl no older then 10. "How old are you?

She smiled big"I'm 8,almost 9!"

I looked at them curiously "You let a little girl go scavenging.In a zombie apocalypse."

Justin shrugged"She's fine,besides if something happens she has us. "

Phoebe looked around us and suddenly her eyes lit up. "Mom!Dad!" she ran past us and into the arms of a grown man and Emma who we meet earlier.

The guy picked Phoebe up and placed her on his shoulders.They walked moved to us and the guy stuck out his hand. "I don't believe that we have meet yet.My name is derek."

Me and Riley shook his hand.

"Hey Justin good to see your back." Axel said coming out from the hospital with Jordan. "Good to be back"he answered
" I was told to tell you that when you and Mike get back to go find Zach.I think he has a project or something that he needs your help with. "

"Cool thanks." Justin said.He and Mike left after saying bye.Emma looked at me and Riley"That reminds me ,Allison woke up just a few minutes ago and wanted to see you. "

Riley smirked"finally,that girl takes forever to wake up. "
