Chapter 17

It had been a couple of weeks enjoying the lake house and hanging out with my family and best friend and also making out with Ashton without getting caught which was the best thing ever. In about 3 weeks it would be back home and enjoy the rest of the summer break and see if I got accepted into my dream college. I’ve mostly spent my summer with Ashton and that made me feel bad because I haven’t been with him more. Today was Christmas and it was one of my favourite time of the year since the family gets together but this year I guess Luke and Mia were spending it with us.

I woke up early as in 6 and I was excited, I turned around on the bed facing Luke who was fast asleep he looked so cute when he was asleep but I needed him awake, I got up walking over to his bed getting up on his bed and started jumping.

“Luke wake up, wake up” Luke was rolling around on the bed and I sat on him

“Jodee go back to bed”

“No it’s Christmas Luke and you know how excited we get when it’s this time of year” I had a point every year when it was Christmas we would hang out on Christmas Eve and spend two hours together on Christmas giving each other presents before going home for family dinner. “Luke please get up”

“If I get up what’s in it for me”? He asked

“You get your present”

“Nope that doesn’t help”

“Luke please”

“Alright but get off me first” I got off him and he got out of bed walking out the door forgetting he was only wearing boxers.

“Luke, are you forgetting something”? Luke came back in grabbing pants and walked out the door walking downstairs and I followed behind him.

The whole family were downstairs opening presents; I was sitting in Luke’s lap cuddling up to him. I got mum a cooking book that she actually asked for and a picture frame with me and Michael in it, I got dad undies because that’s basically what I get him every year and a limited edition collectors car since he loves them things since he was a boy and Michael I gave him a game that his been waiting for and a new headset and it ended with him telling me I was the best sister ever.

“Alright this one is for Jodee and it’s from Luke” My cousin Sandy said handing me my present, I looked at Luke confused wondering what the hell he got me. I ripped it open and looked up at Luke it was a journal box set that left me confused.

“Open the box” I opened the box and inside was of course a journal but it didn’t have pens or whatever was supposed to be in the box set. There were two tickets to my favourite band All Time Low and I thought the concert was sold out I was so upset knowing I wasn’t going to see my favourite band but I can’t believe he got tickets. There were also some bracelets that had band names on them and there were two bracelets that were batman and they both said ‘partners in crime’

“Why are there two”?  I asked confused

“Well if you remember Batman was our first movie we watched together when we were little and you turned to me and said were partners in crime and I agreed and then we made a promise so this is a memory that we can keep forever” we both put the bracelet on and I give Luke a kiss on the cheek making everyone say aw at us.

“I’ve got your present as well and you better love it, Michael” Michael got up walking over to the walking wardrobe where I kept Luke’s present. I got up getting it off Michael and giving it to Luke. “Merry Christmas Luke” I said with a smile, he unwrapped the big present and saw a guitar case. Luke looked up at me with wide eyes he opened the case and saw an electric guitar, I knew he always wanted one since his always been stuck with that acoustic guitar.

“Jodee, how did you”

“Save up, I told you I get good pay with both my jobs and you keep saying how you don’t have enough money so this is my gift to you I really hope you like it” Luke looked up at me standing up giving me a hug

“I love it, thank you thank you”

“I thought it would be a good start to your music career”

“Thank you” Luke gave me a kiss on the forehead and we sat back down opening the rest of the presents.

Later that day Luke was talking to his family on the phone so I decided to go on a walk along the lake. I heard my phone ring and saw that Calum was calling me; I answered it putting it to my ear.

“Hey Calum”

“Hey Merry Christmas” he said “So anyway how’s operation fake relationship with Luke”?

“It’s actually going pretty well and we’ve got my cousin convinced but always I’ve been sneaking around with a guy” Calum gasped and said

“Alright who’s the guy”?

“Remember Ashton who I spoke about after summer break last year”?

“The guy with the perfect hair”

“Yeah him” 

“That’s good to hear that you finally kissed him but just make sure you don’t get caught because the worse could happen and how are you going to explain yourself” Calum had a point and I soon heard his sister on the other line “Alright I gotta go I wanted to call you up and hoping Luke was with you but anyway Merry Christmas and tell the other two I said hi”

“Will do see you in three weeks”

“Bye” Calum hung up and I noticed the quad bike making its way down to the lake, I saw Ashton riding and I ran up to him going behind a tree where he pinned me against the tree.

“Merry Christmas” he said

“I thought you were leaving to go see your family”

“I am in about 10 minutes so I quickly wanted to see you”

“Well when are you coming back”? I asked him

“Not until New Year’s day”

“I’m going to miss you” I said doing a puppy dog face, I was sad Ashton was going for a while but I could spend some time with my best friend. Ashton wrapped his arms around me and said

“I’ll miss you too” I wrapped my arms around his neck and I noticed he was holding something above us; I looked up seeing a mistletoe. I looked at him and I leaned in giving him a kiss, I pulled away and he said “Merry Christmas Jodee”

“Merry Christmas Ash” Ashton soon left and I walked back to the lake house, my days of spending it with my best friend begins now and it’s going to be fun.
