Chapter 9

I woke the next morning with the sun shining on my face, day one of faking it went well and everyone seems to fall for it and now it was day two and it was the day Sarah arrived and I wasn’t looking forward to it. I noticed Luke wasn’t in his bed maybe he was already up. I got dressed running downstairs walking into the kitchen seeing Luke cooking with Grandma. He seemed like he was having the time of his life they were listening to happy music and dancing around, grandma turned around seeing me.

“Good morning honey” she said smiling, Luke turned around walking up to me.

“Morning beautiful” he shocked me when he gave me a kiss on the cheek but it made me happy

“Morning you two seem to be in a happy mood” I said sitting down watching them cook

“Well Luke and I were the only ones up and Luke came up with the idea of making breakfast for the family and I wanted to help” Grandma said, platting my breakfast up and giving it to me. “God Jodee I can’t believe you didn’t think about dating this kid until now” I laughed at Luke and Grandma being stupid together. I soon heard a car beep outside and I rolled my eyes knowing the devil was here, Grandma and I walked out seeing Aunty May and Sarah getting out of the car, Sarah’s hair was short now but still stylist, her lips seemed fatter than before and she was wearing fashionable clothes. Aunty May ran up to me giving me a hug

“I have no seen you in so long I don’t care if it’s been a year but my gosh you’ve gotten prettier” Aunty May and Grandma went back to the car to grab the suitcases. Sarah walked up to me smirking

“Hello Jodee darling”

“Hello Sarah, why are you wearing this it’s not a fashion show it’s vacation”

“Sorry but I just got back from the fashion show it was amazing really, I’ll show you pictures later” I rolled my eyes while Sarah walked around looking disgusted with the lake house “God it still smells so anyone ready to go skinny dipping” this time it was my time to smirk but before I spoke Luke came out with a plate of pancakes and said

“Who’s hungry you ladies must be tried and hungry after travelling” Sarah push past me and took her glasses off

“And who is this hunk, were not related are we”? I could tell Sarah was going to flirt with Luke but I stood beside him and said

“Sarah met Luke his actually my boyfriend” Sarah’s smiled faded and looked at me

“Wait your dating this, but how can that happen”?

“We’ve been best friends for a while Sarah and just started dating a month ago, so I hope you enjoy skinny dipping because I heard the lake is going to be cold tonight”

“I’ve got my eye on you two” Sarah said looking at us both and walked right past us, I looked at Luke and we both fist bumped each other.

Everyone was up and enjoying breakfast, Luke always made great pancakes but I did notice Sarah giving me death glares and looking between me and Luke.

“Sarah you haven’t touched your food yet” Aunty May said

“I know but I want to know is, Luke how did you meet my little cousin here”? Luke looked up at Sarah and everyone else who was looking at him; he put his fork down and said.

“Well we met in pre-school Jodee was the new girl in the middle of the year and I remember how shy she was, she had her hair in piggy tails and wore a bright yellow dress because she told me that it made her stand out from the rest but anyway I didn’t have any friends at the time and kept getting picked on because I was lonely and a chubby kid, so the day Jodee arrived she noticed that I was getting picked on so she stood up to them telling them to leave me alone and they did and from that day we became best friends basically and now look at us been dating for a month” Luke held my hand and smiled at me, I can’t believe he remembered that all I remembered was me standing up to the bullies but seemed Luke remembered every single detail.

“Right but why did you chose to date now since you’ve known each other for so long”? Sarah asked, I knew what she was up too and I didn’t like it. I was about to speak but Luke spoke

“Because sometimes you don’t notice that the person you’re meant to be with is right in front of you” everyone besides Sarah awed at Luke’s words and it did make me aw as well. Sarah gave up and started eating her pancakes in annoyance. I leaned over to Luke and whispered

“Good job, way to sell it” Luke gave me a weak smile that left me confused I was about to ask until Mia and Mum wanted help with washing up. I got up grabbing people’s plates and walked to the kitchen.

“That was so sweet what Luke said, wasn’t it Jodee”? Mum asked

“Yeah it sure is”

“I just can’t believe you two are finally together you know me and Liz have been talking about you two getting together”

“You have”?

“Yeah haven’t since you guys met and had play dates oh god those were the days who knows maybe the next thing you will be married and walking down the aisle” my eyes widen at the thought of getting married to Luke, he was my best friend but what would happen if we broke up there goes our friendship down the drain. Mum left the kitchen leaving me and Mia

“Your right Jodee”? I looked up at Mia and nodded my head

“Just thinking about all things”

“It was sweet what Luke said but I have a feeling his not pretending”

“What do you mean not pretending”?

“I mean as in Luke likes you more than a friend”

“Mia don’t be stupid”

“Fine whatever but I’m telling you now that boy is falling for you and you seem to blind to see it” Mia soon left leaving me to wash the dishes up, I didn’t want to believe the fact that apparently Luke likes me more than a friend sometimes he can just be a good actor and make people fall for his tricks.
