Chapter 20

Since Luke was one the phone I decided to call Calum to tell him the news and he was happy for me and said I told you so. I was sitting in my room scrolling through photos of Luke and I, I can’t believe soon the two best friends are going to be split up but I guess that was the part of growing up. There was a knock on my door I looked up seeing Michael walking in.

“Hey Mikey”

“Hey, I saw you were down so I wanted to come see if you were alright”? Michael sat down next to me putting an arm around me.

“I got in”

“What do you mean”?

“I’m leaving for London after summer break”

“What, Jodee that’s amazing I will miss you but I’m so happy you get in it’s been a dream of yours since you were little be happy” Michael said trying to make me laugh, which I did

“I am it’s just”

“You don’t want to leave Luke behind, I get but I’m sure he will happy for you”

“I know I will tell him at one point”

“Good, now come down for dinner” we both got up walking downstairs enjoying family dinner.

I ran downstairs joining everyone for dinner, I sat down next to Luke and he leaned over to me and said

“I’m sorry about before, mum was calling and it was really important” Luke kissed me on the cheek and I nodded

“It’s fine Michael spoke to me, so no need to worry”

“Okay I am sorry”

“Don’t worry about it Luke, I understand if it was a family emergency” Luke nodded continuing to eat his dinner.

“So Luke” Grandma said resting her hands in her join and she was up to something, Luke looked up at her with a mouthful of food in his mouth quickly chewing on his food and shallowing it.

“Yes”

“I’ve been wanting to ask this lately and I basically ask my grandchildren’s partners what they see in them, I did it to Mia today and plus she did a good job now it’s your turn plus you get extra points because you’re a little cutie”

“Alright well I guess the fact that Jodee’s been my best friend for so long and when I realised I liked her every little thing she does now makes me fall for her all over again, as cheesy as it sounds its true I like how paranoid she gets with the smallest things, whenever she laughs she tries not to laugh to hard or else she starts snorting and if that happens she gets embarrassed and blushes like a tomato, she is a strong girl and stands up for what she believes in and she’s just a beautiful girl that I fall for everyday” Luke held my hand and I was smiling so wide hearing him say that made me happy, everyone around the table awed and Grandma said

“Gosh if I was your age and dating you I would be so thankful to have a guy like you, there needs to be more guys like you in the world” the rest of the night I found myself still holding Luke’s hand, I don’t know what got into me but I felt something inside me.

It was hard to go to sleep later that night, what Luke said about me was the cutest thing his ever told anyone. Luke was fast asleep and you decided not to wake him up. I got up walking down to the kitchen for a midnight snack. I wasn’t surprised to see Michael down there eating cookies. He looked up and said

“Hey why are you awake so late”?

“I couldn’t sleep”

“Is it maybe because of what Luke said”? I nodded my head looking at my older brother “Well maybe Luke isn’t faking it anymore, maybe he meant what he said”

“Ever since he said it I’ve been feeling something and I don’t like because I can’t go to sleep”

“My advice sis is to go back into your room and cuddle with Luke I think it makes you feel better and take this cookie” Michael handed me a cookie and I walked back upstairs opening the door. Luke was fast asleep and I got into bed with him going under the blankets. I laid down resting my head on his chest and I soon felt his arms wrap around me like I was his old teddy bear he had as a kid.
