When I got out of the shower and dried myself, I dressed in a pair of matching black undergarments before putting a white fluffy robe on and sitting on my bed.
The cries and gurgles of the dying men bombarded me.
I frowned trying to drift my thoughts away from them, trying to think of flowery meadows and rainbows or some shit.
The door suddenly opening made me jump, I looked up and saw that it was Elias that had entered.
"Sorry," he said realising he had scared me.
I waved it off.
"Dont worry."
He closed the door behind him.
"I was wondering if I could have your mother's full name."
I rubbed my jaw trying to ease the pain as I thought of my mother, reminding me of the tapes I brought back with me.
"Honestly I've never heard her last name but her first name is Julia."
He frowned.
"Why?"
"Because when we followed up your mother using your information, nothing came up. As if she never existed, but that would be impossible because then you wouldn't be here, so someone has erased everything of her."
This time I frowned.
"What the fuck," I said looking out the window to the backyard seeing my father standing by the fire tossing things from a box into the fire, in the other hand he had a bottle of alcohol.
I opened the door and walked out to him. My heart skipped a beat when I saw that the box was filled with the stuff of my mother and rage immediately boiled in me.
"What the fuck are you doing!" I yelled scrambling to the edge of the fire, trying to save some books of hers that we're on the outskirts.
My father grabbed my hair and pulled me back "leave it. She's gone now. Forever."
"Noo no," I sobbed as I watched all her belongings burn while my father held me back.
After that, I only had the letter, piano and tapes.
"My father."
"Huh," Elias asked looking into my eyes.
"My father would have erased her... Grief" I scoffed at the excuse he had told me.
Elias nodded.
I pushed away the dark thoughts I was having and put on a smile.
"Can I request another book?"
"Your not–" he paused searching for the right words, "–being held in here anymore, you can go out of this room. But my advice to you is to not wander into any rooms."
I nodded.
"I know, but a book would help me sleep."
Images of the dead men flashed in my head making me bunch my hand up into a fist.
"I'll see what I can do."
"Have you found out any idea why those men came to kill me?"
"Nothing so far but we have our theories."
I bit my lip before nodding.
"Okay."
He gave me a curt nod before turning and leaving without another word. It wasn't long before my requested book came.
