Chapter 6

Alayna struggled to drag her feet on the ground. It took every ounce of strength for her to arrive at her condo. There were a lot of scratches in her body and a deep wound on her stomach. Even as a werewolf, her wounds did not heal because the severity was caused by a water nymph...with feet. She was certain about what she saw. She expected to see Belinda go to the lake or a private swimming pool and shift...but there was a different water nymph that attacked her. Just like in the Bestiary, the water nymph looked like skin and bones.

However, Alayna had already seen a lot of horrendous things. The water nymph was not enough to terrify her.

Being terrified was the least of the things that Alayna should be worried about now. Her wounds made her look like a normal human because she was not healing. Her clothes were full of blood and she knew that she would throw them away later on if she survived.

Alayna almost fell down on her knees when a strong pair of arms caught her. "What are you doing here?" her voice was low due to the lack of energy. She was fighting the urge to sleep. She needed to keep her eyes open. If this was not a dire situation, Alayna would push Jordan away. She did not want Jordan to see her, not when she was this exposed, not when she was naked.

"I was worried," Jordan responded. He made the right decision of being worried and coming to Alayna's condo. Jordan decided to lift her to save time. Blood was dripping from Alayna clothes to his. It was a good thing that he was not wearing his uniform or else...he would need to buy a new one. "What's your room number?"

"2B," Alayna breathed out.

"Don't close your eyes," Jordan was clueless as to why Alayna was not healing. He was convinced that he saw Alayna shift into a real wolf with his own two eyes. If Alayna was an evolved form of Scott and the same as Derek, Jordan was certain that she should heal. "Don't let the darkness consume you, Alayna,"

"I'm trying," Alayna was trying so hard to keep her eyes open even though the darkness was just a few blinks away.

Finally, Jordan had arrived to Alayna's condominium unit. It never occurred to him that Alayna was...naked until now. The girl left her bag on the couch in the Sheriff's station and there was no key to unlock the door. The Hellhound was left with no choice but to kick the door open. He could just change the lock and repair the door later.

Jordan immediately placed Alayna gently on her bed. There was no time for him to admire the place where the beautiful girl lived. There was one thing that he could say for sure though, Alayna's condo was a whole lot better than the apartment that he lived in.

The green-eyed deputy rummaged the drawers to find supplies that would help stop the bleeding. For now, Jordan was thankful for the medical training that he had received when he was still in the military.

Alayna groaned the moment that she had woken up. Her body showed no signs of rapid healing and ached all over. For a moment, she thought that she hallucinated last night when she remembered that Jordan Parrish was the one who took care of her.

"You're awake," Alayna almost had a heart attack when a familiar voice spoke from the couch. "Do you need anything?"

The blue-eyed girl shook her head. 'It wasn't a hallucination,' she confirmed.

"I'm sorry that I cut some of your clothes into strips since you didn't have any bandages," Jordan pointed at Alayna's wounds. "You should keep a first aid kit around here,"

Alayna fought the urge to comment about how she did not need a first kit since she was a werewolf. Her wounds always healed rapidly until now. She observed her body and noticed that Jordan did a decent job in cleaning her wounds and tending to her. "Thank you for the help... and for putting a t-shirt and a pair of shorts on me,"

"No problem," Jordan flashed her a smile and turned to look away when he remembered that he had seen Alayna naked. He should not make a big deal about it...but seeing Alayna naked was not what he expected their first alone time would be. "I called Scott and they will be coming here later. Scott's mother will also come here with them,"

"What for?" Alayna wondered.

"Scott thinks that you need the nine herbs to heal,"

Knowledgeable that she was, Alayna was familiar with the nine herbs. It was a concoction used to cure most supernatural poisons and infections.

"I'm sorry," Alayna looked apologetic. "I know that we're supposed to go o—"

"We can always go out for coffee next time," Jordan was not in the least disappointed that they were not able to go out for their coffee date. What mattered was that Alayna was safe. Also, they were still spending their time together now. "Do you want me to cook breakfast? We can have coffee here too,"

"That sounds...great," Alayna could not help but look down like the sheets were more interesting than the deputy himself. She was not used to having a guy over at her place like this. She did not want Jordan to notice the heat that were rising up to her cheeks. "I think I have bacon and eggs in the fridge. You can help yourself with that,"

"I will," Jordan nodded. "Anything else...?"

"No...but t—thank you, Jordan," Alayna never felt so sincere in her life when it came to being grateful to someone other than Deucalion. "Thank you for staying with me,"

Jordan never expected that his name would come out of Alayna's mouth. It was the first time that she had called her by his name and honestly? It sent shivers down his spine. "It's no problem, Alayna."
