Chapter 7

"I didn't know Deucalion personally but he had been an ally to save Beacon Hills. I've heard stories about him from Scott," Jordan could not help but notice the framed picture of Alayna and Deucalion together. The picture looked like it was taken a few years ago because Alayna looked younger in there. "He seemed very strict and composed,"

Alayna chewed her food silently. Jordan had moved breakfast on her bed since she was having a hard time to move. "He was...um...he was great. Strict, but he never failed to show me that he loved me even though I wasn't really his daughter,"

"You're adopted?"

"Yeah..." Alayna smiled sadly, not because she did not know who her real parents were, but because she could not help but think about Deucalion. "I was in a car accident when I was five years old and I was still in Britain that time. I was in the woods and I found Deucalion,"

"Was he ruthless when you first met him?" Jordan was curious about Deucalion. He had heard from Scott that the man was the former Alpha of the Alpha pack. Deucalion was the reason why Derek Hale killed one of his members, Vernon Boyd, and he strongly wanted Scott to join his pack. Like Malia, Jordan never expected Deucalion to be a family man.

"He had a vision of peace. It's the reason why he tried to help save Beacon Hills in his own way...and it's also what got him killed," Alayna explained. "He changed when Gerard Argent trapped several werewolves and blinded him. When his eyesight returned, he went back to normal. For my father, his anger passed away with time,"

"It does," Jordan agreed. "I believe that he was a good father because you turned out so great,"

"What makes you so sure that I turned out great?"

"I don't know..." Jordan brought his index finger to Alayna's left eye where a tear was planning to escape. Alayna looked more vulnerable than she did last night. Jordan guessed that her father's death was still a sore spot for her. "...it's probably a hellhound's instinct,"

Alayna looked at the deputy. She now realized that Jordan looked different when he was not wearing his uniform. She liked how his fitted V-neck t-shirt looked on him because she could clearly admire his biceps. His eyes showed sincere concern for the girl. Even without words, Alayna was aware that Jordan was comforting her.

The doorbell rang which snapped Alayna and Jordan back to reality. "Parrish? Alayna?" the familiar voice of Scott could be heard from the other side of the door. Scott noticed that the door had been broken so he opened it immediately. He ran towards the bedroom only to see Jordan and Alayna having their breakfast on bed. "O—Oh. I'm sorry. I thought that something bad happened because the doo—"

"Something bad really happened," Stiles confirmed when he saw Alayna's body covered in cloths that served as bandages. "Uh—Parrish? Did you stay here all night?"

"Um...yes," Jordan stood up and brought the used plates to the kitchen sink. "Why is there only the two of you?"

"Lydia is helping Malia study for her exam and Scott's mom has been called for an earlier shift," Stiles answered but was clearly thinking of something else. He was certain that something odd was going on between Parrish and the new girl, Alayna. With the new enemy that had appeared in Beacon Hills, Stiles decided to drop it.

"Don't worry, I have the nine herbs with me," Scott pulled out the nine herbs paste from his backpack. Since they needed to be resourceful, the paste was placed in a Tupperware. "My mom told me that I just need to put this on the wounds,"

"I'll do it," Jordan offered. He instantly washed his hands and grabbed the Tupperware from Scott's hands. The deputy did not know why he did not want to let Scott and Stiles touch Alayna's body. For Jordan, it was better than he would do it rather than the two.

"That's painful, Alayna," Scott warned. "If you want me to take some of the pain away, I'll do—"

"No need," Alayna turned down the offer. She clearly did not want to owe Scott something. Also, she was relieved that Jordan volunteered to put the nine herbs on her body. If she wanted to get touched by someone, it would rather be Jordan.

Jordan removed the replacement bandages around her stomach and promptly rubbed the nine herbs on the scratches. So far, Alayna was doing good...until Jordan rubbed the nine herbs on the deep wound located on her stomach.

Alayna could not help but scream in pain and agony. The three guys watched her suffering. However, they would not be able to do something about it. Excruciating pain was the price to pay if Alayna wanted to get better.

After a few seconds, all of Alayna's wounds healed completely like they were not even there in the first place.

"That was fast," Stiles was amazed. "So...are you ready to tell us what happened?"

"I was follo—"

"We should let her change first," Alayna did not have the chance to finish her sentence because Jordan decided to interrupt. Before Alayna could decide to speak again, Jordan whispered in her ear, "It's better if you take a shower first. You're not exactly wearing...um...undergarments right now."

"I followed Belinda last night as planned," Alayna told the others the moment that she had stepped outside of her room. "Unfortunately, a water nymph attacked me,"

"It wasn't Belinda?" Stiles frowned.

"Definitely wasn't Belinda," Alayna cleared. "But we can't be so sure. Maybe Belinda is a water nymph and is an ally of the one who attacked me,"

"What does it look like?" Scott contemplated.

"As I've said, burned skin and bones. Sadly, they aren't just in water. The water nymph that attacked me has feet," Alayna described.

"That's great to hear," Jordan spoke which made all the heads turn to look at him. "I mean—I thought that I won't be able to battle them since I'm a Hellhound...but since the water nymph is on land, I will be able to help,"

"We need to be careful," Alayna advised. "I was in my evolved form but the water nymph was able to defeat me. They are strong,"

"Yeah. You don't have to tell me twice," Stiles concurred. "The water nymph beating Deucalion's daughter is not anywhere near reassuring at all."
