I didn't even try fighting back anymore after that.
Jonathan gave me hell but nothing bothered me anymore. I simply relaxed into the chains and let him do his worst. Why fight back? I've got no one to go back to.
My cuts and bruises began to heal slower and no matter how much I tried motivating myself with my sister and nephew I couldn't find the will to do more than think about how much I hurt.
And boy did I hurt. My stomach was always empty or just barely occupied by a little bread and water. My head throbbed from dehydration which I assumed was calculated to be as painful as possible without actually killing me. My body was weaker than Olly's and completely caked in blood. My will to live had been shredded by one two minute phone call. Pure habit was keeping me alive at this point.
I cringed and turned my head away when Crowley came in the door once again flicking the lights on and causing my pupils to squeeze so tight it hurt.
"Evening, Sweetheart." He greeted me.
I forced a small smile.
Maybe he will kill me this time...
"There's been a small ah... lets call it a disturbance, outside. We are going to move you to a new facility in order to keep you safe from th... them." Crowley explained nonchalantly unhooking my chains from the wall but making sure a demon had ahold of one or two at all times. They waked me down the hallway and I could hear blades and angel wings.
I didn't even bother hoping it was Cas.
Metatron sent his troops. Great.
I stumbled along beside the demons wondering if they would drag me if I fell down. It seemed like a pretty good option to me in all honesty.
There was a large crash ahead and the doors we were about twenty yards away from blew open spewing debris and a small explosion. The blast nearly knocked me over even though it was small, I was just that weak.
no more angels... please?
The guards by the door tensed as Crowley muttered a string of latin words held together with "fuck" as glue between each one.
"EVELYNN?! EHVS I'M COMING"
No. My brain is playing tricks on me. I've been touched by a djinn.
"EVELYNN!" Sam's voice was either angry or desperate, I couldn't tell which. He rounded the corner and locked eyes on me.
I thought he was going to stop and check to make sure there were no more demons. I thought he would have done something a little smarter than what he did. But Crowley had indeed lied. Sam was desperate and that made me okay for the time being. I wasn't left alone. Then he started running towards me, just running in a straight line.
"SAM!" I screamed trying to warn him of Jonathan about to attack but he didn't react in time.
A deep and wide wound opened in his side causing him to stumble into the wall.
"SAMMY!"
As he stumbled Jonathan opened another gaping hole down the back of his thigh in the perfect place for blood to start pouring out profusely.
"I'm okay, it's okay Evelynn. I love you." Sam said sinking to the floor.
"Oh shut up. You won't die that quickly." Crowley grumbled.
"But I failed." Sam groaned pressing his hands to his side.
This can't happen. I am supposed to be the most powerful being on the planet. How am I letting this happen?
I honestly don't know what happened next, but I've been told it was scary as hell.
I do remember Crowley looking at me and his eyes getting wide before he snapped his fingers and was gone.
Sam said my eyes started glowing, there was a faint glow to my skin and it was like hot electric wind was radiating from me at a hundred miles an hour. That was before I started screaming. I let out an ear shattering screech with metallic tones mingling with my voice and a ring of blue light exploded from me burning through every demon it touched before bouncing back. When it collapsed in on me the wind stopped and my eyes went back to their normal color as I fell down. But that's only what I've been told, I don't remember any of it.
What I do remember is being carried through halls by Castiel followed closely behind by Dean shouldering Sam.
Sam looked like shit. Granted, a recent stab wound wouldn't do anything good for anyone but he looked like he hadn't been sleeping or eating or doing anything but drinking and research. I knew that look.
Crowley lied. Thank God.
But the doubt still swirled in a nice little pool of unhappiness in the back of my mind.
When we finally barreled through a set of doors and found the night sky and fresh air we were surrounded by more demons.
"Dean? Do I set her down?" Cas asked panic thick in his voice.
"I can fight if I have to Dean." Sam groaned trying to play through the pain and stand up on his own.
"Easy Tiger. You can't do shit." Dean said giving Sam a pat to the back.
I was completely convinced we were going to die when the second major angelic event occurred that night.
Suddenly, standing in between the two pairs of injured and uninjured people with arms crossed and an oversized Carhartt jacket practically falling off his frame, was Gabriel.
I had never seen him but I could tell by the way Sam looked at him that this short little ball of sass was my father.
"What. The. Fuck. Did you let happen. To my baby girl?" He demanded in a low menacing tone.
"Demons first Sweet Tooth. Then we can play 20 Questions." Dean urged.
Gabriel lifted his hands and clapped twice like you're supposed to for the 'clap on' lights sending all of the demon's brains up in flames with a flash of light as they dropped to the ground.
"Done. Now what did you dick faces do?" He asked glaring at the boys with fury practically boiling out of his ears.
"We... ah!" Sam began, stopping for a moment to wince in pain, "We lost her on a hunt. Crowley took her. I'm sorry." he huffed in pain.
"The only reason I didn't interfere when I found out you two got together was because you are one of the most protective ass holes on this giant muddy spit-wad. YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO KEEP HER 100% SAFE!" Gabriel yelled practically radiating heat.
"Dad..." I tried talking but the guys had started laughing. Even Cas was chuckling beneath me.
"You've obviously never spent quality time with your daughter, my brother." Cas chortled.
Sam nodded, almost laughing through his pain, "None."
"Oh this is great!" Dean cackled.
"You shouldn't be laughing." Gabriel glowered at Sam but no matter how hard he tried Sam couldn't keep it together.
"Okay, you don't know her so I will enlighten you." Sam began in a very Dean-like speech, "She is the hardest person on earth to protect. She hates being controlled, even if it's being asked to stay in the bunker for her own safety. She practically creates trouble for hersef. I can guarantee you've got another thing coming from her when she gets better."
"This one is a little ball of fire." Dean added helping his brother to the car and motioning for Cas to get me in the back.
I made a mental note to punch Sam for calling me stubborn and a trouble maker.
"Dad. I don't do 'protected' but it would be pretty great if," I had to stop and take a couple breaths to keep from crying out as Cas set me down in the back seat, "...you, being a full power celestial being an all, could heal us? Or poof up some food." I mumbled having to make a conscious effort to stay awake.
"You, of course. Him I'm just stopping the bleeding." Gabriel muttered in disgust extending his hand over my body and emitting a glow from his palm. My chest felt like someone sat on me for a moment but as he withdrew his hand everything returned to normal, my dehydration headache was even gone.
Gabriel's face contorted in surprise then concern.
"What?" I asked as I sat forward and snatched the bag of peanuts Dean was holding out for me.
"What did they do to you....? How did you survive...?" He whispered.
"Doesn't matter." I grunted through a mouthful of peanuts, "heal him." I ordered pointing at Sam.
"Still only stopping the bleeding." He grumbled.
"You're thousands of years old, stop acting like a toddler." I snapped.
"No." He pouted stopping the bleeding from Sam's wounds before turning to me and pointing at me exactly like my mother used to, "We are going to have a talk later." He said before disappearing.
Cas slid into the seat next to me as Dean started the car, "He's usually much more amusing. I guess we caught him on a bad day." He reassured me patting my knee.
I simply nodded and leaned my head on his shoulder letting myself drift off.
"Thanks uncle Cas...." I murmured as we drove away hopefully leaving all the trauma behind.
