A/N: it's not too exciting but there's loose ends that I have to tie up because if I don't they will drive me insane! I tried to make it as cute or funny as possible!
My eyes flew open a little less violently when I woke up enveloped in Sam's arms. My nightmare was one of the calmer ones and didn't warrant a scream, just a gasp.
"She finally wakes." Sam observed in his low gravely morning voice.
Damn I missed that.
"Yup. What time is it?" I asked as I snuggled deeper into his warm chest.
"Late enough for Dean to make a breakfast run without us." Sam answered kissing the top of my head. I smiled and ran my hands through Sam's hair, revelling in the fact that he was there at all.
God I missed this too.
I tilted my chin up and just smiled at him, not saying a word. His eyes were still a little clouded with sleep but the way the green and blue and gold of his iris' mixed together made them look bright and alive even through his slight squint. His lips were still the soft pink they used to be, slightly more chapped than normal, but still just as inviting as they curved up into a small smile.
It sounds cliche but I got completely lost in him. I could feel his heartbeat and his steady breathing calming me, almost lulling me back to sleep.
"You could have woken me up." I mumbled in a near scolding manor, still smiling and playing with his hair.
"But you're so beautiful when you sleep." He whispered, kissing my forehead.
I was formulating a response that would have been relatively sassy and funny when Dean opened the door and backed into the room.
"You two have clothes on right?" He asked in a sort of teasing tone.
We both looked under the covers and gave each other the 'oh shit' look before I kicked Sam out of bed to find where he threw my shirt.
"Oh my god you guys! I've been gone for two hours!" Dean complained still facing the door as I hurriedly pulled on my boyshort panties and t-shirt.
"I just woke up!" I protested as I pulled my hair up in a crazy messy bun. "You better have gotten me some food." I warned sitting down at the tiny motel table.
Dean rolled his eyes and dropped a Denny's box in front of me before messing up my hair. I gave him the death glare which turned into a huge grin as I realized he got me corned beef hash.
"Dean did I ever tell you you're the best big brother ever?" I asked sweetly, with a quick flutter of my slightly clumpy eyelashes.
"Yeah yeah, shut up and eat." Dean laughed as he handed Sam his breakfast, "so how much stuff are we going to need to fit in Baby? And how fast can you pack?"
"Well, I need to give my two weeks notice and warn Joy before her babysitter leaves." I noted.
"Perfect!" Dean grinned clapping his hands together and rubbing them like the evil geniuses you see on children's movies. "We can take some now so Baby isn't overstuffed."
I rolled my eyes, "I don't have that much stuff Dean."
We finished eating and I found my jeans (behind the air conditioner) so I could leave the motel room with Sam accompanying me back to Joy's to tell her what the plan was.
Before Sam even got a word out she went off, "Samuel Fucking Winchester! How dare you make her feel like she had to put herself through all of that to protect you!" Joy literally poked him in the chest with her pointer finger, "She didn't leave the couch for five days and you come waltzing back into her life and suddenly everything is better?! I don't think so mister! You're going to have to give me some real good evidence that you're going to do it right this time. She may be my older sister but I am in charge here." Joy spat as she folded her arms and rested her weight on her hip, tapping her foot.
We stood there stunned for a moment, our faces must have been priceless.
Finally Sam recovered his wits and in a surprisingly small voice for such a big man said, "I'm sorry... You're right, it was my fault she felt that way. I honestly have no reasons why I'll do better but I will. I give you my word."
She sure wasn't expecting that and I could see her begin to cave as she stuttered out her response, "W-well...you better. No excuses? Really?" She asked.
Sam just shook his head.
Dean raised him right.
"O-ok...." Joy muttered looking confused.
"I don't know how you just did that... But you need to teach me your Jedi mind tricks." I whispered as I leaned towards him, still keeping my eyes fixed on Joy just waiting for her to explode in a fiery ball of foul language.
But it never came.
"So uh.... Does this mean I need a new babysitter?" She asked regaining her wits as she picked toys up off the ground.
"Not for a couple weeks. I still haven't given the bar my notice." I assured her.
"EHVY!!" Olly who was supposed to be napping squealed in delight as he ran down the hallway to me, jumping up into my arms and giggling.
"Hey big guy!" I greeted him shifting him over to my hip, "do you remember Sam?" I asked angling him to get a better view. Olly nodded and hid in my shoulder after giving Sam a shy smile.
"Do you still like trains?" Sam asked, wrapping his arm around my shoulder and leaning closer to catch Olly's attention.
He nodded shyly again but barely peeked up from my shoulder.
"I have a really cool story about trains if you wanna go over to the toy box with me. I think the girls want to talk." Sam offered his arms out to Olly who readily fell into his grasp at the enticement of a train story.
Sam shot me the 'I've got this' look as he and Olly left to go play with trains, leaving Joy and I alone in the kitchen.
"Evelynn are you sure?" She sighed as she leaned against the counter next to me.
"Joy... I love you and Olly, and you guys have helped me more than I deserved and I will never be able to pay you back for that but... They've become a part of me. I am a hunter, whether that be a good thing or a bad thing, and they're my boys." I pieced my words together carefully as I thought about what I was doing for the first time that day.
"He's a good guy. Better than the books." Joy smirked causing me to roll my eyes, "But I'm not 100% sure you're good for each other." She stated crossing her arms and watching as Sam helped Olly build his train track set they boys had gotten him for Christmas.
"I'm not a 100% good for anyone. I've got so much baggage that it would take a forklift for a normal guy to deal with this." I pointed out following her gaze and smiling ever so slightly. The scene was adorably ironic as far as size difference went, Sam being at least ten times Olly's size.
"I'm just saying, be careful." Joy said with a sad smile as she patted my arm before wheeling around the island counter.
"You could ask mom to babysit. Lord knows she's bored." I offered.
"Yeah! You want to call her for me while I make us some lunch?" Joy asked pulling out a pot and mac n cheese.
"Bad idea...."
"Why's that?" her quizzical look was almost funny as she held up a lighter and soup pot in her hands.
"She's less than happy with me for coming to live with you. Last time we talked.... Jesus... She was as angry if not more angry than when you wrecked the camaro." I sighed rubbing my temples in the stress of remembering our interaction.
"Camaro mad?" She breathed the question with surprise and a little fear in her eyes.
I nodded, "Basically just being here, not hidden away where my "aura", as she called it, couldn't attract anything is seriously pissing her off. And she doesn't believe my inks tusks works." I groaned laying my head on the table.
"But why-"
"I have no idea. I've never understood that woman." I grumbled into the tile countertop. Tires crunched on the gravel driveway but I just brushed it off "It's probably Dean. He wants to bring some of my stuff back so Baby isn't 'over stuffed'". I told Joy as I lifted by head and rested my chin on my forearms.
"Him and that car...." Joy laughed as she stirred the macaroni noodles. She moved to go get the door when we heard a knock but Sam beat her to it.
"We got it!" he assured her as he ducked through the doorway to the hall with Olly on his shoulders.
"Watch his head!"Joy squeaked, letting her helicopter mom show through a little bit.
We heard Sam yell for Dean to calm his tits before we heard the door open and Sam began backtracking, "Oh my god. I'm sorry. I was not expecting you... I-"
"Thats alright honey! I wasn't expecting you either."
Joy and I looked at each other in terror as Olly's squeals of delight traveled down the hallway.
"Oh stop looking at me so funny and let me see my grandbaby!" Mom teased.
I jumped up and walked down the hall to see Sam bending down towards mom so she could remove Olly from his shoulders but as she reached up to do so she planted a little kiss on his cheek.
"Mom!" I exclaimed as I reached them.
What the hell is even with this woman?
"Sorry, couldn't resist." She winked and bounced down the hallway with Olly on her hip.
"uuuhhhhh...?" Sam just looked at me absolutely dumbfounded with my mom's god awful shade of fuschia lipstick on his cheek.
I smiled and licked my thumb to wipe it off, trying to hold back a giggle.
"She doesn't know why I left but she is mad that I did. Just roll with things okay?" I asked holding his face in my hands a second longer than I needed to after removing the lipstick.
He nodded and placed a quick kiss on my lips before winding his arm around my lower back and leading me down the hallway after Mom.
"Wanna just leave?" He whispered as I received a death glance from mom. I smiled up at him in a sort of 'thanks' look as I shook my head.
"So Samuel, what are you doing here?" Mom asked from the kitchen table as she bounced Olly on her knee with an expression only equitable to that of Regina George.
