Flashback (No Chance pt 4 is going to be the last of the flashback arc, so bear with me.)

2 Months before graduation day

(Y/N)'s POV

2 Middle school guys were walking down the sidewalk, one of them has a basketball tucked under his arm.

Dom: "Shieet, man, didn't know you had it in you." He grinned.

(Y/N): "Tsk, He just pisses me the fuck off." I audible clicked my tongue.

Dom: "True to that." He nodded repeatedly. "He is kind of an asshole in the class."

I then softly chuckle, Dom to chuckle.

Dom: "Ahh, can't believe he changed that much from elementary." He looked down, really thinking about it.

(Y/N): "Well, if you gave them time, people do change." You turn your head to look at the sky.

The orange haze replacing the once bright blue sky, my eyes admiring the slow but subtle change.

(Y/N): "It's an unavoidable thing, whether you like it or not, whether it's for the best or no. People change because of time and there's nothing we could do to directly revert them. All we can do is adapt to their new switch, I guess. "

Dom: "Yeah..." He replied softly with a tinge of sadness.

I look at Dom and saw him just staring at his basketball, all gloomy and somber.

Shit, I got carried away with my rubbish rambling, I gotta change the subject somehow. I thought to myself

My hand rubbed my nape in apologetic

(Y/N): " Eh, sorry that you have to hear my nonsense rambling."

Then Dom looks up and puts his hands in front.

Dom: "Oh don't worry, I think that was pretty rad speech."

Then Dom tiredly let out a sigh of despair while his shoulders slumped.

Pretty unusual for him to be looked so dejected, usually you would see him enthusiastically play basketball, happily talked with his other friends and still have enough energy to give out a lively vibe. Well, we've been friends for these past 2 years, I've come to know when something is bothering him.

The thought of our friendship really reminded me of our first time speaking to each other in the classroom, which made me smile.

Aah, such a weird time back then. I thought.

Now, he has been acting really strangely for the past few days. He's been looking kind of gloomy as of late but he's discreetly hiding it from other people and if someone brought this up, he'll just brush it off as nothing and slyly changed the subject and it always works, people just go with the flow, thinking it is nothing too. However, I'm observant and far closer to him thanks to 2 years of being his tutor.

Should I ask him what's wrong?

Hmm...

I don't want to look like I'm prying into his privacy and an annoying person, but you know the saying 'Person who smiles the brightest one are the saddest one' or something like that.

My brain racked all of the possibilities of the choices and it's saying that I probably shouldn't look into it too much. To respect his privacy and

No, I'm his friend. I can't let him be all depressed and shit, If I were to feign innocence to his current predicament then what kind of friend am I. A bad one.
